Dish satellite question

We just got a Dish satellite antenna. Will we be able to watch Dish channels on our trip into Canada? Please use simple words to explain why or why not - I'm not really that tech-y.

You should be ok. Didn't say where you were so not sure if you will have your local channels. They are beamed to a smaller area.

Sorry, we're in So Calif. We do have Dish at home. We just added the receiver that we'll have in the RV to our account. We did connect it here at home to make sure it all works.

I'm pretty sure we won't have our local channels. My sister has Dish in her motorhome and, once they're out of their home area, they don't get their local channels. They used to , but Dish changed what you can get out of area.

Getting reception in Canada totally depends on where you are in Canada. The further you are into Canada (north of the US border) the less likely you will get anything. As soon as you get about 200 or so miles from your home location you will loose you local channels (ABC, NBC, etc). I'm not sure about your plan but on mine I can call Dish when ever I relocate in the US and get local channels from a nearby large metro area.
