Looking for nice camp grounds in Florida and Georgia

In all that is going on right now I am looking into a back up plan for our spring break trip with the kids 7&14. As for now we are going to Fort Wilderness for a week while we go visit Sea World and Discovery Cove and other area attractions non Disney. I just picked to stay at Fort Wilderness due to us staying there before and knowing what it is like. For our back up plan if they keep the parks shut down during our time 10th -18th of April. I am wanting to go to a campground on the golf coast or east coast. We have never been to any beaches in Florida or Georgia. Just looking for ideas on something nice and out door things to do.

Jekyll Island State Park and Blythe Island county park are about a half hour north of the state line. I was just at Blythe Island a week and a half ago. Jekyll island has more family activities (kids) going on and access to it's own ocean beach.
Blythe Island I think has a nicer campground. A lake with swimming, boat launch, fishing pier and more. Saint Simons Island is about a 20 minute drive. There are three public beach access parks and about 4 miles of really nice beach. If you go to Saint Simon's be sure to stop and get BBQ at Southern Soul. Check the daily specials before you jump into anything. Smoked prime rib is awesome. Smoked turkey was good too!

Jekyll Island is nice, we will be there the second week in April. If you are up by Savanna, Creek Fire is nice.

Stay home. This is not the time to be taking a vacation. Heed the words of the experts and stop the spread of this virus. Be part of the solution and not part of the problem

+1 on staying home right now. The weather's not warm enough for swimming, etc. until you get below Orlando this time of year.

Georgia State park "Crooked River" is open with social distancing.
    Full hookups are available.
Just off I95 mile marker 1 after crossing from Fl.
    30 miles to Jax Fl.
    25 miles from Jekyl.
Nice bike paths and right on the river.

If you're going to go camping with distancing, you don't have the time to go all the way to Florida in 1 week.

I suggest Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. We most often leave our camper in No. GA mountains and drive the car since rooms there are often so cheap in the off season.

Florida is opening up. We LOVE the Gulf Coast a lot. But we live on the east central coast - think rockets - with people inside them going to outer space. The beaches in this area are nice. But I don't think you're going to see Disney or Universal open. Maybe the Space Center.

I vote for the Gulf Coast with kids. Panama City Beaches are great, there is a lot to do (not sure about this with the whole virus thing going on). The kids wouldn't be bored in normal times with the mini-golf, go carts, etc.

Bamaman makes a good point. You'd have to hustle down and back to anyplace in FL. Maybe that make Myrtle Beach a better choice?
