Differences between 2020 310GK-R and previous years?

Seriously considering a purchase of a 310GK-R and was wondering what was added or additional options with a 2020 vs previous years 310GK-R? Does GD redesign a model after several years of production? When will 2021 310GK-R be available?

    Thank you!

2021 models are available now. Grand Design makes mid-year changes to all their models. This usually happens late summer or fall. Many things have changed over the years. Tires, pin boxes, plumbing fixtures, furniture, electronics, etc. They have been in production for several years now so there have been many changes. What doesn't typically change is the floor plan.

Thank you for your response. Noticing on your signature you have a 2020 310GK-R. What were your "must haves?" Any options you wish you had gotten or not gotten?

What's important to me won't be important to the next guy. It's very subjective and there are hundreds of threads discussing the pros and cons of each option that is available on the Solitude. Having said that, this is what we chose for our 2020 310GK-R:
    Full body paint
    Heat pump A/C units
    Linen interior
    Residential fridge
    300w Solar system

We also had our unit transported by Grand Design to MORryde to have their IS system and disc brakes installed prior to it being returned to Grand Design to be painted and finally transported to our dealer.

As Brian said, people will debate the merits of many options.

We're glad to have the dual-pane windows. We had a 2018 Reflection without them, our 2018 Solitude has them. Makes it quieter inside, and noticeably less condensation - usually little or no condensation - on the windows as temps drop around freezing.

We are completely sold on slide-toppers. Many of the campgrounds we've stayed at have trees, and it used to be necessary when breaking camp to go up on the roof and sweep debris off the slides to avoid having it dragged through the seal and into the interior. Not any more; just close up the trailer and everything falls off the slide topper as it's rolled up. The slide-topper on the bedroom slide makes it quieter in there during heavy rain too.

Our off-the-lot trailer had been ordered by the dealer with the pull-out outside kitchen option. We had the dealer take it out and give us a credit. That thing is huge, occupying a whole bunch - maybe 60% or more - of the main storage area (basement) of the trailer and weighing roughly 200 pounds. We tell people who haven't seen it to make sure they do before ordering it.

Our off-the-lot trailer came with the generator prep option. We haven't installed the generator - the prep is pretty much tailor-made for the expensive ~275-pound Onan generator. If you think you might go that way one day, the prep kit isn't expensive and would save money and time when you do.

When we were shopping to replace our Solitude I really wanted the residential fridge option. Our Reflection had a small dual-fuel fridge that never got cold. However we couldn't get the option without waiting six weeks and paying a much higher price for a custom-ordered trailer from the next year's line-up. So we bought the one off the lot with the dual-fuel fridge. After some problems it has been great, gets really cold, and we can run it for days (probably a lot more) on propane rather than having to run a generator to keep the batteries charged.

We have the heat pump option on the living room air conditioner. It is limited in what it can do - down to about 45 degrees it works pretty well although the air conditioner is inherently noisy, the furnace is quieter. Below about 45 degrees the heat pump won't help. The heat pump option is inexpensive, so is worth getting if you anticipate camping much in cooler temperatures - when electricity is free it won't take long to save the cost of the propane the furnace would burn.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. You got your post in the Reflection section somehow... you can ask a moderator to move it to the Solitude section where you may get more replies.

Was that detour to MORryde worked through the dealer or directly with Grand Design? That is something I would consider. Did you have to upgrade the factory axles (and/or tires) to make that happen?

I contacted MORryde to get on their schedule and paid them directly. Once I had the MORryde appointment, I contacted Grand Design so they could arrange to have my rig transported to and from MORryde after it was built. Grand Design provides this service free of charge. You don't need to upgrade the factory axles (they get removed with the MORryde IS system). The dealer was out of the loop.
