Trash Can Mod (My Version)
Yep... You all know what I'm talking about... I've seen lots of mods here to the drawer that screams "What were they thinking?" Here's my version:
Add a couple more drawer slides and Voila! A drawer in a drawer.
There used to be a dishwasher here:
But now it's where the trash can lives:
... accessible from both sides of island, sweep the cuff off the counter right into the can and stuff like thatRoger, Stacy and the Sophie the fur kid

I am just now running into this project on our new trailer as well. For whatever reason GD put permanent shelves in every cabinet in our kitchen, the largest clearance we have is about a 16.9" tall opening. Over 10" wide and maybe 20+ deep, was thinking about cabinet slide mount or something?
I did see some of those bottom hinge units as freestanding, but I'm not sure I can use that idea as all the eligible trashcan cabinets are bisected by the dumb shelves.

The shelf came out pretty easy for me. This is on the cabinet just below the small sink. Take a block and hammer and tap the shelf from below. It is only attached with small staples. Once it is free pull off the 3/4" square member that is just behind the the front horizontal piece. Then you can see and remove the 4 screws that is on the back of the horizontal piece.

It is way more work and you need to have some woodworking tools but I have a lot of free time right now.Best regards, Lou & Diane Cetrangelo, Saint James, NY
