    Solar panels

Does anyone have some advice on solar panel for our 303rls? We dry camp more than we camp in parks. We use a Honda 2000 and it does a great job keeping the batts up. We carry 2 if it's going to be hot to run the Air. We'd like to look into solar panels so we won't to rely on our generator. We were thinking about the portable ones so we could move them to the sun. Also my thinking is if we mounted them on the roof how effective are they? We usually try to find the shade when dry camping so they wouldn't be as effective as the portable suit case models. I guess my question is how many watts should I buy? We don't want or need an inverter because we only need AC power for our coffee in the mornings and firing up the generator isn't a problem. We just need something to keep the batts up for the evenings.

Thanks for any ideas on the brands or models.

Use the search function on the forum - there are many threads on this topic. A Google search for "RV solar" will also turn up a number of good educational sources outside this forum.

I'm an advocate for the newer flexible portable panels. Our long term goal is some standard ones on the roof and the portable one to move around.

The one we bought is an Acco Power 120W and is no longer sold, but there are many variations out there. I like them because the are very light weight and easy to set up. They store easily taking up less space than the rigid, glass covered panels.

We also dry camp and most of our favorite sites are shaded. I have two 100W panels that I made portable, they feed into a MPPT controller mounted in the pass-through.
