Facebook
HEY!
Can we stop using FACEBOOK here? We have a perfectly good searchable forum that does what we need , has better search functions and is pretty secure, in that it does not use tracking software on our devices.
So much of Facebook's content is unalterated bull, false "friends", repeated rumors and downright falsehoods.
As for me, I worked at a job in the Federal Governent where I was prohibited, yes prohibited, from using Facebook on either work or my own personal devices. When I retired, I had an account for a while. But no longer.
What is the problem with Facebook? Only it's core business model. Facebook installs tracker cookies on every device that touches them so they can sell data about its users. The real Facebook customer isn't the user, it's the companies that buy Facebook's data about YOU the user.
IT security folks joke that Facebook is spyware by design. Only it is no joke. When I worked for the Feds we realized that even if we blocked Facebook from our computers onsite, Facebook was tracking employees who had Facebook accounts at home or at sites overseas. Once Facebook is used by a device, they track how, where, what, and when you use that device, where it goes on the Internet, what it talks to, how it connects, and even can tell how you connect to secured sites and servers. Facebook creates a user profile with everyplace you go and everything you do, including secured systems via cookies that are hard for users to permanently delete from their devices. Basically when you sign up for Facebook, you agree to allow tracking software. They create quite a profile about you. If you do any sensitive work on your device, you really do not want Facebook to also be on that device.
And if that weren't enough, it can slow your device down with sending data about you back to Facebook.
Facebook does nothing for free. Facebook is making a 5th wheel trailer load of cash every second selling your user data to the highest bidder.
Just say no.Last edited by Dadeo6472; 04-01-2020 at 10:04 AM.

Geoff and Cheri - yes, indeed.....some seem to not know or have forgotten why this forum was created and exists. Certainly the train will jump the tracks at time (we all have done it) but it would be a greater value to the community here at large to do our best to focus on helping owners with RV and related components support. There are plenty of other venues for the other stuff.
