    How to post a reply

To reply to an already existing thread:
    • Log into our site.
    • Open the thread you want to reply to.
    • In the bottom right hand side of the post you want to respond to, click on the note pad looking thing (post quick reply). A text editor box should appear.
    • Add your text and then hit post reply at the bottom of text box.

Or... you can hit "go advanced" and get a more complete text editor with formatting options and the ability to upload photos.
Once you have crafted your post, click on the submit reply button below the text editor to submit your post to the board.

How to add photos to a post

NOTE: Forum and Classified software will display photos in the original orientation in which they were taken. If a photo was taken in landscape (sideways) mode, it will display sideways in a post or ad, even if you have it stored in portrait (upright) mode on your device. Use a photo editing or snipping tool to save a copy of the photo in portrait (upright) orientation and upload that copy (not the original) in your post/ad.

To add an image or photo not previously uploaded:

    • Click Post Reply or, if starting a new thread, click New Thread.
    • Position your cursor where you want the image located in your post.
    • Click on the "Inset Image" Click image for larger version.

Name:	Screen Shot 2020-04-08 at 11.15.54 AM.png
Views:	556
Size:	6.2 KB
ID:	25782 symbol in the top row of the message box. A separate window will pop up.
    • Click "From Computer" "or From URL"... then select the file(s) to be uploaded. Be sure that the photo is appropriately sized. 620 x 620 pixels (or smaller) and no more than 100K. Forums software will automatically reduce the size, but smaller size photos will upload much faster. You may select several photos to upload at the same time.
    • Click Upload Files. After pics have loaded, the pop-up window closes.
    • Click Submit Reply (if you are replying) or Submit New Thread (if a new discussion) to post the text of your message - photos will automatically appear where you inserted them.

To add an image or photo already uploaded:

    • Click Quick Reply and scroll down to bottom of text box.
    • Click Go Advanced, add text to message window and then scroll down.
    • Click Manage Attachments. A separate window will pop up.
    • Drag the image(s) you want to add to your post from the top area of the pop up window to the lower area. (any images you already included in the post will already be in the lower area)
    • Click "Done". After pics have loaded, the pop-up window will close.
    • Click Submit Reply to post the text of your message - photos will automatically appear at the bottom of your post.

    About attachment storage limits
When you upload a copy of an image file (or other attachment) it is stored on our servers. There are some restrictions on how much data can be stored.

Registered members are limited to 500 MB of attachment storage for items posted to threads and posts and 100 MB for files posted to the photo gallery. We highly recommend that you reduce file sizes before uploading them to posts and threads.

Contributing members have unlimited attachment storage for threads and posts. A contributing membership is an annual commitment. If a contributing membership reverts to a standard account, loaded images will still remain, but if you have exceeded the storage limits of a standard member account (500 MB), you may be unable to load more attachments. And remember ... all images loaded to posts (regardless of your membership status) must meet the size requirement above. If they are larger, they will fail to load.

Searching For Information On The Forum

There is a large amount of information on our forum, sometimes it seems endless. Chances are really good most topics, and certainly popular topics, have been covered at least once already. And many topics have been covered many times. This information can be invaluable to you when you need it quickly and can't wait to post a question that has been asked before and then waiting for all the replies that result (including some that tell you to use the search function).

Experience users HIGHLY RECOMMEND using the search function with different words to seek out information that already exists.

    Using Our Forum Search Tool
The forum's search functions may or may not help you. It is, at best, a very simple search tool. Whatever words you type into the search box (whether in a plain search or using Advanced Search) results in returning posts with ANY of the words you entered. So using a lot of words results in lots of results. That makes it pretty hard to get specific unless you know of a keyword in a post you are interested in. Nor can you use quotes, + or - to include or exclude words, or the boolean logic words AND, OR.

None-the-less, it can be helpful looking for something you have a question about.

    Here are some examples...
    If you search for:

    • pump --------------------------- you will see results for posts containing the word pump, pumps, pumped, etc...
    • water pump -------------------- you will see results for posts containing the words water, watered, pump, pumped, pumps, etc...
    • water pump switch ------------ you will wee results that contain any of the words entered

As you can see, the more words you enter, the more results you get. This can be confusing and frustrating.

A better way is to open a separate browser tab and go to Google's search page. From there enter...

    • mygramdrv.com water --------------------- this will return results with the word water in MYGrandRV's posts. Of course, with this word alone, you will get A LOT of results. Maybe a better search is:
    • mygrandrv.com "water pump" ------------- this produces fewer results with a more targeted response - those that only contain the phrase "water pump"
    • mygrandrv.com "water pump switch" ----- returns even fewer results and an even more targeted list of possible results you wanted

One more thing.... Don't forget you can search within a thread by using the "Search Thread" function. So if your search results in showing an entire thread you can 'drill down' a bit more to find something with the thread.

A good idea might be for you to include a keyword in a post you start or respond to if you think you might want to go back to that post in the future. For example, I used "kalakamods" in a thread that contains links to most of my mods. I put it there because I knew I'd go back to it over and over. Now, using the forums search box, I simply enter kalakamods, press search and get one result - the result I wanted. This might be hard to keep up with lots of keywords, but if you use them sparingly it helps.

Hopefully this helps you find things you are interested in quicker. And hopefully you won't be asking a question that has been answered many time before or keep you stuck in place because you need some key information to get on the road again.

When To Send A Private Message (PM).

Private Messages (PMs) are meant to communicate with another member on a personal level.

Private Messages (PMs) should be used to convey personal information that should be kept private, or controversial information that could disturb civility in the forum.

Private Messages should not be used to continue a discussion in a thread. This prohibits all members from benefitting from benefitting from information that everyone might find helpful.

How To Add a Link To A URL (web Site).

How to add a link to another web site or URL...

Many times members want to show other members merchandise or information posted on another web site. This is easily done by embedding a link to the other site in a post or response to a post.

    • First, copy the link you want to send other folks to. Usually this link is on a web site you have open in another tab on your browser.
    • Create your post and identify the word(s) you want highlighted to direct others to a particular web site. To highlight the words you can mouse over the words highlighting them.
    • With the words highlighted, click on the on the "Link" icon in the format menu(s). It is the icon of the blue globe with a small chain link in the lower right.
    • A window opens asking you to enter the URL address of the web site you want to tell others about. Paste the URL address in the area provided and click OK. You can also type in the web site's URL into the box provided if you do not want to paste it.
    • You will be returned to your post for further editing, the words you want highlighted will be included in within a string of characters with the URL you want to send others too. When you have your post ready and want it published just press the "submit reply" box as usual below the message creation box.
    • Your entry will be posted and you will be able to review it and see the highlighted text directing others to the web site you entered. At this point you are done but may still go back and edit your post if so desired.
