4 years ago we stayed at an RV park just west of Durango. The narrow gauge railroad ran right next to it. I think the name was Alpine Rose. It was very nice. Call them and see if that is the one with the train tracks next to it.

KOA is good (160 east) and several north of town. I have no idea if they are open with the restrictions in place. Right now restaurants are take out only, I believe the Alpine Rose is north of town. Train is not running currently. hope this helps.

We stayed at Lightner Creek Campground (https://www.camplightnercreek.com/). A really pretty, smallish place. Many campsites are right on their creek. Highly recommended.
On the Mesa Verde side of Durango. Short drive to town and the train, easy direct route to Mesa Verde.

There is a very short, but pretty steep hill from their office down to the CG itself, but shouldn't be a problem for any rig. Sites are decent sized, and they have spaces to fit almost any rig. The usual campground amenities. It is in a small valley, so TV/Cell might be an issue, but we didn't attempt to use.

Priest Gulch Campground located a short distance north of Mesa Verde, west of Durango, south of Telluride in the tall pines directly on the Delores River is one of our all-time favorite campgrounds.

Priest Gulch is a great campground. There is also a nice campground just a touch north of Dolores called the Dolores River Campground strangely enough.

Echo Basin in Mancos Midway between Durango and Cortez is the greatest campground, we will be there next month.

As far as coming to South West Colorado. DON'T! Please stay home. As of now everything is shut down. Including Mesa Verde, the train, river rafting, forest service roads are shut down, Campgrounds are shut down. The virus is here and we don't need people coming from other states & bringing more of it. And no I don't think that this is going to end in a month or two. This could go on for 6-8 months easily. Until this bug is under control there is no real reason to come here. All restaurants are closed, all tourists shops are closed. Downtown Durango is a ghost town. And with this virus this is exactly what we need. Because when it comes to the virus & people. Less people = less virus. So please this year give South West Colorado a break. Its kinda nice to see our roads where you can drive up & down them. Stay home, Stay safe. Maybe try next year.
