Another good filtering material is a HEPA vacuum bag cut up. I read 2 layers makes it almost as effective as the n95 masks

Here's the pattern I used. I found high quality quilting cotton is the easiest to work with. I also added fusible interfacing, so it's that plus two layers of cotton. Since Dave didn't want the rose/pink material from my apron fabric, I used an old 100% cotton dress shirt, with quilting cotton lining.

I liked this one, as I could pick the size. I also modified a little and made head and neck straps with velcro as that's all I had available, rather than going out shopping for elastic.

    Great pattern, very similar.

I put fusible interfacing on the inner lining. Since I only had one size pattern, I measured faces, and adjusted as I cut (about 1/4" on each edge worked). I used pipe cleaners for nose pieces.

Elastic is hard to find (like toilet paper). I made 36" fabric ties from matching fabric. We also harvested elastic from the bottom of an older fleece jacket.

There just pulling a blindfold on sheep. If the sheep can't see the wolf, it must be safe. I've only had about 30 years working with PPE including safe airway and poisonous gasses.

For all the people making masks to protect yourself from a molecule do this test as a very basic test.
    1) Put on your mask
2)spray your mask with very powerful perfume several times
3)breath heavily out through your mouth and in through your nose for about 30 seconds

If you smell the perfume you're mask will not stop a very large molecule, the virus is a tiny molecule.

Clearly correct. However, what the masks do is to somewhat limit the amount of particulate that contains the virus from spreading in its normal fashion. In this case, PPE is used to decrease the distance the virus can spread among humans by limiting spray.

The virus in this case has been measured at 70-90 nanometers (0.07-0.09 microns). Acetone has a molecular diameter of 0.6 nanometers. The virus is quite a bit larger (100x larger) than most of your standard organic molecules.

I agree that even an N95 won't stop this virus unless it is attached/embedded in a droplet of moisture or attached somehow to other air contaminants.

I dispute the validity of your test and your assertion that this virus is a very small molecule.
