    Fireplace Remote

I have a new remote for my fireplace but it does not work. Does it need programmed/paired. If so, how?

Our remote only works if you get less than 5' from the unit and that's even with fresh batteries. That is my only complaint with the fireplace. Since we don't turn it off and on much or readjust it I just live with it.

Mine works while I am sitting in the recliner and both slides are out. Since the trailer is 8’ wide, I’d say that I’m probably 8-9 feet from the fireplace. I haven’t changed the batteries in the year that we’ve owned it.

I had to replace our fireplace under warranty, Grand Design shipped me a new unit and i installed it myself. I now have have both the old and new remotes and they both operate the replacement fireplace.

I had to change batteries in the fireplace remote after a couple of months of light use.

Most of the new remotes arrive with a plastic film between the battery and the contacts so the battery doesn't run down before you get it. Have your checked to see if the remote has one of these protective films and, if so, has it been removed?

Look at the front end of your remote with the camera on your phone while pressing buttons. You should see the LED blinking.

Some times I need to turn the fireplace on manually and then the remote works fine.

My fireplace was used very seldom the first year of ownership--maybe 3 times. Then it wouldn't work at all. In reading online, it's obvious that there may not be a decent quality electric fireplace on the retail market.

We've given up on RV fireplaces, and now just use a high quality electric ceramic heater.

We now have a big ugly hole where the old fireplace went. I'd just like to have a faceplace and cabinet doors that match the rest of my cabinetry to cover it up.

I also had 2 fireplaces, (ended up fixing the original), anyway, the remote worked for either on mine as well. I had a problem with my tv remote and had a larger replacement and that also can work the fireplace......all good recommendations so far....
