[QUOTE=Robt225;342371]We are new owners of a XLS 22MLE and looking to buy the exact F150 you mentioned above. What did you end up buying and what has the towing experience been like for you?
We will be using it for longer trips over time and through the mountains and want to purchase an F150 that suits this TT.
Thanks for your input- Rob and Joyce[/QUOTE @steelerider just gave you great advice. I'll add that you should also get the 6.5 box. Longer wheel base equals a little stability when its windy. I don't have any issues with our 2.7 EB but payload is almost max. Our 22mle when loaded for a trip with 1/3 fresh water has a tongue weight of 760 lbs. Our payload sticker is 1426 lbs. Add the wdh, generator, tonneau, Linex, beer cooler oh and DW and we are at capacity. Another option to the 3.5 EB is the new 3.5 PB with the built-in 7.2 kw generator. That has me interested. Or for a little $ but added piece of mind and towing ease is the 3/4 and 1 ton pickups.

We made our first trip towing a 22MLE with an F150 3.5L, heavy duty tow package. I used the Tow/Haul mode. I was a little surprised we spent most of the time in 8th gear at about 2100 RPM, sometimes it dropped to 9th at 1600. We got between 9.5 and 10MPG.
Is this Normal to expect 2000 RPM in 8th gear on flat ground? We even had a bit of a training wind.Rob and Joyce

I am towing a 2600RB with an F150 2.7L. Truck is rated to pull 7500lbs and trailer is 5800 dry and 8000 loaded. I purchased an anti sway bar but haven't installed it yet. After reading previous posts, it seems I would be better to upgrade truck to a 3.5L

IMHO the 2600RB is more like 3/4 ton territory. Even with a good WDH you'll be over your payload unless you order a f150 with the HDPP package. Have you weigh your rig and truck setup for camping at a scale yet? This will give you your true reality numbers. The punch the numbers on here to see where you stand https://changingears.com/weight-calc...ht-calculator/

I agree the with Ynot4me about watching the payload number. My F150 has a payload of 1950lbs and has no issues with the weight the of the 2600RB. It is quite common to see 1/2 trucks with payload ratings between 1000-1500lbs. If you put 1000lbs of tongue weight on it, the payload could quickly be gone if on the lower side. The 3.5L and 5.0L can both handle more weight and would be a better option. A 3/4 ton would be easily handle the 2600RB and would be obviously tow it even better.

We looked at both the 2500 and 2600 trailers yesterday. Liked both, slightly different versions of the same thing IMHO.
Just purchased a '21 F150 3.5, 3.55 gears. Added "E" rated tires. Payload of 1800+. Seems like the 2500 and 2600 are both within the weight of the F150, especially since it is just the wife and I.

Anyone towing a 22MLE with a F150 2.7 EB
Went from a 5.3L to the Duramax Diesel and can’t even feel it behind me.
