    A kitties seaside adventure.

Teaching a cat to walk on a leash has been interesting. We are hoping to get her confident enough to hiking go with us. Her natural wariness causes her to stop and hide at the slightest of odd noises that she doesn't understand. Makes for slow hike. In the mean time there are other lessons to be learned for us as well. Like cats like to climb trees, didn't really think about that one. And while kitties will climb pretty naturally, it takes them a while to learn how to get down as well. You'll have to zoom in a little to find her on the right side of the tree about 20' up.

All in all she does a pretty good job of walking with us, and is getting better every time we go out, she has even learned a couple of trails and trots right along.

She is also into investigating old bones, kitty on a whales skull.

And then there is the beach and the ocean. She got an interesting lesson in slick rocks and tidal pools. The fun begins about 30 seconds in.

Great new adventure for the kitty !
We have a neighbor here in FL who walks their 2 dogs and their cat is always following no more than 20 feet behind.

We have one cat that loves to walk on a leash but will only go where she wants to explore. My wife has tried making her walk with her but cat has other ideas. We compromised on letting her explore and sort of having my wife follow but it always ends when Amy (the cat) is done exploring. The cats sister is happy to watch from the screen door and has no inclination to follow.

It's not to different for us. Sometimes KC (kitty cat) will want to go one way and us another, we simply pick her up and carry her for a little bit. She is pretty good natured and doesn't argue with us about this. She also likes to play with her sister, Kota the dog, so when everyone except KC is headed away from her she will hurry up and catch up. Makes for a convoluted slow walk. And we all have stop and wait on her when she is getting her tree time in.

We have had 2 cats, now down to 1, and both liked to walk with us, trailing behind. Earlier in the neighborhood, nowadays on own property (we live on a farm). The more I am listening to you the more I am starting to think to take Minnie with us one day. Shall see.

A short test run should tell the tail. When we went full time our 8 year old cat came with us. Not sure it was going to work, Opie was a house cat and afraid of going outside, afraid of riding in the car. He was not a happy traveling kitty. Then one particularly long run DW took the pets and went into the RV to lay on the bed, she was feeling puny. In the RV, Opie made narry a meow, laid on the bed and slept. He didn't like something about riding in the truck but was really happy in the 5th wheel. After that he rode in the 5th wheel and grew to love the RV life, he liked watching leaves fall, wild animals playing in the yard, and creeks. He remained a house cat, just a moving house.
