No issues to report, does everything Ford said it would do. Towed one time before the lock down and mileage was 8.8. My normal drive is 6 miles to work so my city is probably a little lower then other be it's 11 right now(all city). 4.30 gears and 35" tall tires. Seems like many people are bad mouthing the gas 7.3 and never driven or towed with one.

Saw the blower kit of the Ford forum. The 700 HP is for an engine transplant, in the video about half way through it was stated a lower boost for tow was in the works.

I think the fuel mileage may be close to the 6.2, however the 7.3 gets its power at low rpms. Maybe 16-17 at normal highway speeds unloaded. Heavily loaded, it may be 2 mpg less than the 6.7 diesel, but the cost differential in 87 octane makes it cheaper to tow with.
What's interesting is that many aftermarket companies are working on modifications for the engine. With the camshaft in the block, the deck height is not nearly as tall as the 6.2 engine, and it actually will fit in an old Mustang easily. Like was said, with minor modifications, it's good for 700 hp with a superchager. Five Star and other tuners are getting great results with 550 hp and driveability with an ECU retune. There will be a crate engine business for this engine, and it's really going to be something.
Nice that the 7.3 engine is about $8K cheaper than the diesel. In the long run, it will be substantially cheaper vs. the diesel engine to run.

As far as gas mileage I have a 2012 6.2 V8 Super Duty crew cab with 430 gears. 6 speed auto. Heavy commercial off road tires. In the 4 corners area empty it averages 13 MPG. Pulling my 30 foot 2500RL It averages 8-9 MPG. So basically the new engine with the 10 speed tranny is going to be the same thing. As far as someone saying averaging 16-17 MPG, that's bull. Not in the high elevation or hills. A few months ago I said there would be blower kits offered in this engine and people told me I was dreaming. Now look & this is just the start. The new gas engine with a nice blower boost a little premium gas 430 gears & run with the big dog diesels. Nascar 9 says he gets 8 pulling his RV & 11 city miles to work. I fly with those #'s right there . Sounds right on the money.

Thanks folks. Having too much time on mys hands leads to a lot of reading on diesel issues (DEF, fuel injectors. pump, wiring, trans, fit/finish, etc) across all the brands. There are essentially limitless forms for Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc..
Over on some of the other brand RV forms there is a lot of talk on diesel ownership costs. Its 2 to 3 times of the gas depending on factors (FT or 2 weeks a year) daily driving miles, etc.. I have put off my new truck buy until the COVID issue passes. Hoping for some screaming rebates later - we shall see. I have not found a con yet to the gas ownership - just pro (I don't need gobs of power). The gas range can be mitigated with an onboard Aux tank which I would do for the diesel too.
Please keep the gas numbers coming or if you have any issues
Thanks - Keith

I too like the sounds of the 7.3. Two things about the gas that would bother me is not having that power for the big hills and the braking you get from the diesel going down those big hills. Because of those two things I would have to stay with the diesel.

I'm pulling a 303RLS and never once worried about power going from LA to Las Vegas and back. The 2020 10 speed trans(diesel or gas) is very impressive going down hills/mountains, tap the brakes and it downshifts. Tap them again and it downshifts again. It will continue to downshift until it feels it will hurt itself, overrev.

Thanks for the info. Been considering one of these but wanted some real world feedback. Hard to find anyone that has one. I was looking at F350 duallies with that 4:30. Tow rating of 20K.Just wondered if it was going to be screaming going uphill. Second problem I have is I really don't want to give up my short bed. Got the last year they made CCSB duallies, but that also means I'm stuck with a 6.4. Priced out 2 Lariats, one diesel one 7.3. About 12-14K difference. Next problem is trying to find one on a lot here in the east. Lot of them in 250/350 short beds, but no duallies.
Re-pack bearings necessary?
