    Slide Seal Staples

They use Staples to attach your slide Seal to the the trailer. Today I gently pulled back the seal bulb on my slide out and to my dismay found a few Staples that weren't right. There were a couple Staples on each side that were sticking out trying to poke a hole in my seal bulb. That will not do.

I used a screwdriver and hammer to bend them back down. Not a proper fix but at least they won't be poking a hole in my slide Seal bulb.

I don't recall ever seeing staples to hold the slide seal on, is this common on the newer builds? I also don't see any bead of caulk to seal it at the edges.

There is a bead of clear caulk running down the outside edge where the seal meets the trailer. You just can't see it in any of the pictures.

From a response on the other forum this is a new style seal that is a bulb and wiper together. Don't know when they started using this new style. It's supposed to be a better seal and an easier install. Of course they need to get the Staples right.

In theory the Staples shouldn't need to be sealed. The Staples are under the bulb portion of the seal so the bulb should protect the staples from water intrusion. Picture this bulb/wiper as a lower case "b" but horizontal not vertical. The loop part of the "b" is a full loop and if you lift that up the staples are in there. I like the seal just not the job they did with the staples. Looks like a couple of them were angled just a little off so the staple hit the aluminum frame and bent back outwards.
