If I reverse the pin receiver the rig will hit my truck cap on a similarly moderate turn. What should I do? Change pin boxes? Change the hitch? Get a long bed dually? I’m open to suggestions. A lot of people pull with a short bed and a standard hitch just fine. For me personally I prefer a long bed. If I had to have a short bed then I would have a slider.

Yes. A F-350 DRW should have a payload of about 5300. Lbs and a F450 around 4800 lbs. either should be more than ample for his Solitude.

    Here’s a payload sticker from a 2020 F450 Platinum

    And here’s a similar F-350 DRW

Agree that Ford's published maximum payload rating is higher for the F350 dually versus the F450 dually.

Absolutely, a 350 should be plenty for anything GD makes.

I’ve considered that but I’m close or over on payload now so I am Leary of the extra weight. That’s why I went with the Andersen to begin with. Thanks.

What is the big difference between the F350 and F450. I saw a video that the turning radius of the 450 was much shorter.

I'm not a ford guy but I believe you get the wider track front end which gives you the better turning radius and a whole bunch of heavier duty parts. wheels, tires, brakes, axles, etc. The reason for the reduced payload is they are both limited by the 14k limit for a class 3 truck and those parts are well, heavier.

Don't confuse ratings with actual capability. The 450 is a stronger truck in every way except for the rating.

Man has Ford come a long way in upping their capacities. Learn a lot here

I guess I just have to bite the bullet. This has been a learning experience. Thanks to everyone who has responded.

The F450 has the wide track front end (which gives you the tighter turning radius), larger 19.5 (vs 17") commercial tires, larger brakes and a few other changes. We test drove an F450 and I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the ride was. Ford (and the industry as a whole) has come a long ways.
