Here's a little more F450 info. I took a little ride in the hill country yesterday and decided to get it weighed. Full tank of fuel, Retrax tonneau cover and B&W companion hitch were in truck. It's 580 pounds heavier than the identical F350 except the 450 doesn't have the big sunroof or it would have been even heavier. All the heavier brakes and wheels and tires etc really add up, hence the "lower" payload rating to stay at 14K GVWR. I'll take the extra beef! lol Click image for larger version.

Thanks Txfivver. Do you have any issues with the pin box and side rails of the tonneau cover?

None at all. I have the Retrax metal roll up cover and swapped it over from the F350 when I traded it. I've had the pinbox swung around pretty far, maybe 75 degrees, and no clearance problems at all. That's with the stock Rotoflex pinbox, we'll have to see about the Morryde that's being installed at the dealer this week. Should be no issue as it's the same as the 20's come with now.

The biggest problem with the Anderson ultimate 5th wheel hitch to gooseneck conversion is you just voided your entire frame warranty from lippard and grand design trailer. If you call lippard and tell them your putting in this hitch they will tell you that it will void the entire frame warranty because it puts stresses on the goose neck area that it was not designed for. They have had problems with frame welds cracking underneath the panels that covered the frame on the trailer. A lot of people love them, just giving you a heads up what you may have to deal with in the future. And of course lippard makes the goose Box that attaches to the same exact location as the king pin which will not void the warranty. And I believe you can get it in slightly different lengths for Clarence reasons and stay in warranty.

I’ve tried it at the middle and the top height. Top seems to work better.

I had the same problem with the pin box hitting the cover and also blew out my rear window when the coach cap contacted the cab of my Silverado. I purchased a Sidewinder pin box which moved the pivot point back 20". This solved both problem and I don't have to worry about clearance anymore. You will have to check the max weight on this pin box.

Not sure where you got that info, but I spoke to Lippert before buying mine and they do not void the warranty for the Anderson. They dont reccomend it,
but last I heard, they are not voiding the warranty either.

Thanks for the heads up. I just called Lippert and they said that they do not recommend any hitch that requires an adapter on the king pin. They would not cover a repair that could be related to the use of an adapter. So here we go. New truck and new hitch too. Thanks again.
