I have been monitoring and taking in all the Grand Design Owners ups & downs and learning much from all of your trials and tribulations. We did not have a home computer w/internet until last week being out in the country decent internet was not available. I hope to have our personal experiences of 40+ years w/RV's be a positive contributor to the Grand Design Owners Forum. This is our first 5er as we had a 36' Class A MH and after some careful comparison of numbers M/H versus a truck & trailer the 5er was our first choice already having a 2005 F350 6.0 LWB CC. By chance we stumbled onto the Grand Designs new introductory 5er the 369RL. At the time, at least here in Washington state, 369RL was the only available floor plan produced by Grand Design. We had #0075 and couldn't be happier. We thought when we looked at this rig that there was no way we could afford such a piece of work. The space, construction, craftsmanship and materials were all top of the line. Even the RV Techs at the dealership, this brand being new to them, were amazed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. We have completed two summers of camping now spending well over six weeks in our extended living 5er and there have been only small issues most taken care of on my own as I was not too pleased with our local dealerships service department and their advertised "Factory Trained Techs" that could not even figure out how to change out a faulty ceiling lamp in the living room. It was just a LED Bulb and took three trips dragging the unit to their lot to get it done. Now of coarse it is all winterized but we will be placing our Solitude into service next Weekend for the Local Law Enforcement Hosted Polar Plunge on the Columbia River to generate funding for the Washington State Special Olympics. I just wanted to step in to this great media stream and hopefully be of some assistance in the future.
