After stopping at Yellowstone, Grand Teton and the other places in the area. planning on going south and stop at Colorado Springs for a few days on the way back to Pittsburgh. Any suggestions on a nice CG in CS area. Thanks Ed

When are you planning on doing this? In the Springs area, you often need to have reservations well ahead of time. You can see what's available here:

We made the mistake of wanting to stay in Springs last May (2019) only to find out that many RV parks were full due to graduation at the USAF Academy (duh - I'm retired Army and didn't think about that). So, reserve early!

The Air Force Academy famcamp is closed to all but those who are PCSing in to the Academy. Right now the Famcamp is due to open for Memorial Day right now but the reservation are full at this time.

Cheyenne Mountain SP is a nice , scenic spot. It’s a little tough to get in to , and best I recall you can only book 6 months ahead. We had to book 7 days as soon as the time slot allowed instead of the 5 we wanted in order to get our dates. Then a week later dropped two.

South of Cheyenne Mountain SP is Mountaindale RV Resort. It's a bit remote, but very peaceful and lots of wildlife running around the CG.

If you go, try and get site 33, it's a large back-in site with plenty of space.

Garden of the gods is convenient and close to everything and usually have space. A bit pricey but often our only option, used over the last ten years and no complaints. Someone needs to open another campground in this area. Planning way ahead can be critical.

If you're okay with Forest service campgrounds (no hookups), Colorado Campground is a nice place to stay. It's about 40 miles out of CoSprings, up Hwys 24 and 67, just north of Woodland Park. Have also stayed at Cheyenne Mountain State Park (nice place, but hard to get in unless you're there for only one night), and at the USAFA FamCamp (also very nice, except for the trains that go by in the middle of the night; must be military to stay there).
