2020 GD Solitude 344GK 2nd time out and more issues

I wanted to document my experiences with our new RV (GD Solitude 344GK) in hopes that it helps those who have a PDI scheduled can use this as a guide when doing their PDI. Even though I thought I did a thorough PDI things get throw around during transit so it's always a good idea to "kick the tires."

During our PDI we found the following:

    • Bedroom window shade was not long enough (A few people mentioned this happened to them as well)
    • The ottoman had staples showing at the corners (missed stapling in the correct location)
    • Bathroom face plate for electric outlet was cracked
    • Roof sealant was separating at the corners (top front of RV).
    • Baggage door (left side facing RV) did not close tightly when latched
    • A few minor scratches around the Kitchen Island
    • Sewer outlet (not sure what to call it) was missing 1 tooth - prevented sewer hose from a secure connection

Overall, really satisfied as the dealer corrected everything. GD also got the approvals to the dealer quickly.

After 2 trips we found the additional issues:

    • Norcold Refrig does not get cold. The freezer worked fine but the lower part only got to 54 degrees. Outside temp was 78
    • The Jenkins DVD player/Radio would not turn on...plugged in and the outlet works but the DVD/Radio would not turn on
    • Retracting the hydraulic jacks made a loud "screeching" sound (Is that normal?)
    • Water pressure was low - especially compared to our former 2018 Reflection 315RLTS. Wife not happy so this is #1 to fix for my dealer..lol.
    • Satellite Cable/Roof access - I removed the access cover on the roof (Labeled Satellite Cable Access) and surprise...no hole. Basement does have the hole. (I've read that others had this issue too)
    • Satellite connections were not wired correctly - they were connected to the Cable/TV connection instead of the connection labeled Satellite

My wife and I are happy with our RV. I'm sure as we continue to use it we'll find additional things. When I built my house I had the builder come back to correct things...same process - different product.

Anyway, I thought I would share and would love any feedback on your experiences with similar issues or other issues...

    Hi Jim

I'll just comment on a couple things-
We never had good luck with RV fridges maintaining temps. I was always turning it up or down depending on ambient temps. I switched to residential refrigerators because of this. I also discovered no hole when I removed my satellite roof access plate. VERY frustrating!

I hope you get the rest of your issues fixed soon and without hassle.

Double check that the flap in the fridge door is closing all the way. It will look closed but even a small gap will mess up temp. I had to add washers at the bottoms of the doors so the flap would stop catching. I also removed the sticker the flap was catching on. I waxed all the door latches and the slot where the flap goes at the top of the door frame. Since I did those things the fridge seems to be holding a decent temp. Outside temps haven’t been that warm yet so not sure how well things will go when it gets hot out.

Thanks Brian. Agreed, the lack of the hole on the roof was definitely frustrating -- I had already mounted my satellite.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try these things next time we head out (we're weekend warriors for now)

Jim I believe you and I bought our trailers from the same dealer, I cannot be happier with them. I too got tired of the crazy temp swings of the RV fridge. Mine has been at the dealer for a couple of weeks getting converted over to the residential fridge and getting the Morryde pinbox installed. I was out looking at it yesterday and they did an amazing job! It's a pricey conversion but well worth it when I go full time. If you can't get yours to work right this might be a good alternative for you. Here's a pic in bad lighting that I took yesterday. Click image for larger version.
