    Slide Seal Conditioner

During the PDI the dealer tech recommended conditioning the slide seals frequently using either a commercial slide Seal Conditioner or a mixture of Dawn Dish Soap and water. Any thoughts on using Dawn for this? Maybe a different home remedy?

I use a commercial conditioner. Easy to use and I’m still on my first can after 3 years. Protect All slide out rubber seal treatment. I think I got it through camping world.

At the GD Quartzsite rally, the GD techs recommended just dusting periodically with talcum powder. Fill an old sock and dust the seals with it.

    Dawn...? Really?

Dawn is a detergent that will strip any silicone or lube that is on the seals. (Think about the commercial where they use it for wildlife and oil spills)

Use the foaming slide seal conditioner. Doesn't get any easier than spraying it on....

This is the first time in my several years on the forum where Dawn/water was recommended to be used on the slide seals. As Rob mentioned in his post #4 , a number of us used a powder (we use baby powder) where as others like Matt in post #3 use Protect All or other slide seal products.

This said, it has also been shared by GDRV that no treatment is necessary (at least in recent years) since the swipe and bulb seals are designed and manufactured with lubrication properties. Hmmmm ? If for all models, floor plans, slide type, etc.......not sure

If it was me, I would go directly to GDRV Customer Service 574 825 9679 and get the current feedback for your new 2600. If you do so, please share the results of your call.

I just use Aerospace 303. Spray it on, wipe with a rag to cover all surfaces and remove excess, and call it good! I do lift the seal away from the slide to make sure the edge/tip is coated. I've heard about the talc/baby powder, but powder absorbs moisture. I'd be concerned it would get clumpy. I know they recommend just dusting the seal, but....
