    Imagine. 2600RB

I am starting to look for a late model 2600RB Imagine. Anything I should watch out for that may need to be repaired or a problem that they all had from the factory new.
    Thanks
    Steve

I have heard of some folks hiring a mobile tech to inspect the unit. They might be a great resource for buying used.

There are a number of reports of Imagine 2600RB and 2800BH models with the 3,500-lbs. axles that had problems with the axles and/or leaf springs. Do a search of this forum that includes "flat springs" or "tires rubbing" and you should fine a few threads that go into the details.

Many would probably says that the 3,500-lbs. axles and corresponding leaf springs were just undersized for these trailer models.

In 2019 Grand Design upgraded the axles for both of these models to 4,400-lbs.

I believe part of the axle story is the axle manufacturer tried using 2 3/8 steel tube axles instead of 3” tubes and that caused issues. So steer clear of any units that don’t have a 3” axle.

From what I gather it's Dexter axles that have flat spring issues. And Dexter has both 2-3/8" and 3" axle tubes, the 3" is preferred. My 2650 has Lippert 3500# axles and no issues so far.

Ditto on the springs and axle issues. Also, the new ones have the "Compass Connect" panel (new for 2021, I think).

Compass Connect is a late addition it seems. My 2021 2600RB was build the last week of August and didn’t have it.

In the Imagine FB Group, I had seen a few post where people had water leaking from the docking connections in the front storage area causing floor damage. Might be worth checking the floor by the docking center in the front just to make sure it is solid. Overall I really like mine so far and haven’t had any issues. I have spent 50 nights in it already.

We bought a 6 month old 2017 2600RB off ebay. Some of warranty transferred to us.

The biggest issue is water damage. Check closely for that.

Had a mobile tech pack the bearings and adjust the brakes before purchase. He stated, "the grease looked like thin syrup and one brake adjuster was flopping around in the drum." The TT had the dreaded 3500# axle assemblies. 18 months later, we had 4500# springs, shackles, and Moryde CRE 3000 installed.

We had about 23,000 miles on our 2600RB and are very happy with the floorplan.
