    Replace microwave with convection oven/microwave

Has anyone replaced their microwave in a 2018 Imagine 2670MK with a convection oven/microwave or know of a source to get one? The current microwave is 1.0 cu ft and 900 watts. I have been unable to find a convection oven/microwave that will fit.... all are too big. Any help would be appreciated. As most might know the gas oven is not great...... cannot regulate temp well and tends to burn everything on the bottom.

Cant help with the microwave, but we keep a stainless steel griddle (its round) above the burner in the oven and it distributes the heat. It works great, doesnt burn anything, weve made cake, cookies, roasted chicken and other stuff in there that way and no burning. We also keep an oven thermometer in the oven to get a better idea of actual temperature. We had a convection oven and it was replaced twice under warranty, we ended up installing a regular microwave after the third one died.

    Thanks, but...

Thanks for your reply. We have tried a pizza ceramic pad and a wire cooling rack but still get burning. Still want to try a convection oven so will keep
    looking. Stay well out there.

Your request would be an extremely difficult undertaking for the following reasons:

    1) You're not likely to find a convection microwave as small as the 900W microwave that's in your RV - requiring a remodel of the cabinets.
    2) A 900W microwave draws about 7.5 amps; a convection microwave will draw around 13 amps. The circuit to your microwave location may not be up to the task.

We have a convection microwave and find that we don't use the convection feature. It's easier for us to just use the LP oven. Prior to our new Furrion oven (which we think is great), the Atwood oven was problematic... until we put a double-layer insulated metal baking sheet in it (about the side of the rack) to distribute the heat more evenly. It worked much better that way.

I was disappointed when I realized that, between the time we decided on what rig we wanted and when we actually bought it, they had changed the microwave for the microwave/convection combo. The microwave alone was smaller, meaning the cabinet next to it was large - yay! a place to put big stuff.

I've only used the convection oven once. I probably won't be using it again. I prefer the oven. I've not really noticed any heating problems with my oven, but I don't do a lot of baking, mostly casseroles and such. When the micro/convection dies (as it probably will) I'm hoping to just replace it when a microwave. And have my husband enlarge the cabinet.

Thanks all for your advice. I will abandon the convection oven quest and try your suggestions. Stay well.

This one should probably fit. I didn't verify dimensions though.

Another thing to think about, if you do find a microwave/convection type that will fit your space. A convection type would certainly required very good venting to keep from overheating. The one that came with our Momentum has the heat directed to an outside vent that is located on the wall directly behind the microwave/convection unit. Grand Design also has issued a "recall" because there is so much heat being generated from the convection that the wall behind it is turning dark and discoloring it. No fire hazard they say, but they are offering a ceramic based heat shield to be installed on the wall behind the unit. I suspect, a lot of the issues are stemming from folks using the convection part of the unit and NOT opening the outside vent. On my Momentum, you need a small ladder to be able to reach the locking tabs on the outside vent. Some folks probably just assume that the vent will work when needed and don't even realize that the vent is locked in the closed position until you climb up there and turn the two locking tabs to allow it to open.

    Thanks.... have vent....

Thanks for that. I have a vent and you are correct....it must be open. Again, it seems this idea is not feasible. Going to try the "double layer insulated metal baking sheet" in the gas oven as suggested.
