    31MB and 3/4 ton owners

Is anyone here pulling a 31MB with a three-quarter ton TV? If so, how is that working out? How do you like the trailer overall? We are thinking of buying one to pull with our ram 2500 Mega Cab with the Cummins 6.7.

We just picked up a 31MB and are towing it with an F-350 SRW, works great. We have plenty of headroom for payload, so I assume that an F-250/Ram 2500 would be fine if the payload numbers works out as they use identical engines.

So here is my experience. I pull a 2020 GD 31 MB with a 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins. I haven’t yet weighed buy i am pretty sure I am over my payload by a couple hundred pounds. However, it pulls it like a dream. “Officially” you probably dont have a lot of payload capacity on that rig you are talking about. You probably have about 2200 lbs of payload capacity and the tongue weight of the 31MB is about 1800 alone. Add a driver at maybe 200lb, a passenger at 150 lbs, maybe 100lbs of additional weight, then the additional weight when loading the trailer, you are probably a bit over the official payload weight.

I had a concern and was really thinking of upgrading to a one ton. However, given my experience with my current set up, I am going to continue doing what I am doing.

For what it’s worth, my wife and I pull our 31 with an F-250 and have the 7.3 with the 4.30 rear end and 3000 payload. I pulled it home from the dealership and did a quick shakedown halfway home. All said I towed it for about 400 miles and the truck did phenomenal. Big rigs flying by on the highway did nothing, no issue on bridges or tunnels. I was concerned without air bags but I’m now leaning towards no bags at all. I had a full rig with a few things in the bed well below the kingpin. Depending on how your 3/4 ton is outfitted payload-wise, you should be fine. Hope this helps! Here’s a pic to see how my truck sits all hooked up.

Given Rye said he was looking at a diesel, he won’t have a 3000 lb payload capacity. The heavier diesel takes up too much of that payload. Again, the Cummins pulls great and the 3/4 ton barely drops the bed. So looks and feels great. But “officially” he will most likely be over payload weight.

No experience with 5ers but someone in our camp group is pulling a 40’ Jayco Pinnacle 5th with a Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. I don’t know what his payload numbers are but he has been across country and back with no problems pulling.

I have the Anderson ultimate and absolutely love it. No issues turning can darn get to 90. And I get my bed back when I want it without breaking my back. But here is the key. Everyone seems to want to put the king pin connector on with the ball hole toward the front. I have mine toward the back per measurement instructions and it’s awesome. The dealer had no idea that the king pin device could even go on “backwards”

Just confirming the pin box on the 31mb is the Turning Point? I’ve had 3 previous travel trailers just selling my latest last week. We are looking to go with the 31mb as well. Trying to do as much research as I can. My TV is a 2019 Ram 2500 diesel. I will likely be just under, maybe slightly over my payload weight. So I really appreciate your input. Spent my morning researching SAE J2807 and how they came up with the various make and model tow ratings.
