    Small fresh water tanks

We have been looking at the 31MB and 311BHS fifth wheels for a family of five, and while we love the designs and the quality of GD we cannot get over the small fresh water tanks included in all these models. We live in the West, and plan to spend ~75% of our time in dispersed campsites. With only 60 gallon fresh tanks, all of the GD fifth wheels only provide each of us with 12 gallons of water total. Even if we bring additional jugs of water for drinking and some tasks there is no way that we comfortably can make it more than 2-3 days with that capacity.

Is there any solution to this problem? We have looked at toy haulers which have close to double the water capacity, but their dry weights and pin weights put us at the verge of safety for our 3/4 ton TV.

You could consider a water bag such as this: https://www.amazon.com/Ivy-Portable-...LBM?th=1&psc=1

It is not as handy as a bigger tank, but would certainly extend your stay.

Just remember a full 60 gallon tank weighs about 500 pounds. A significantly bigger tank would eat up a lot of the cargo capacity, especially on the 31MB. Even if it was 120 gallons, it still wouldn’t prevent most boondockers from having to haul water while camped.

We like National Forest Campgrounds... there is usually water near by... I bought a Rv. water tank mounted it in front of the 5th wheel hitch.... mounted a 12 volt water pump under the hitch... Made a electrical harness to fit the trailer hookup... to pump directly into the camper.... grey water puts out campfire..... and have extended our stay by at least a week...
