Geo Method and recipe

We're using the same method.. calgon, tst, dawn... with no issues. But sometimes calgon water softener is hard to find. I've seen powdered borax, but not sure how to mix it right, so I'm hesitant in using it. How should borax be mixed?

I believe it's about the same as powdered Calgon, just slightly less effective. Mix about a cup with water directly in the relevant sink or toilet and stir until the crystals are dissolved - takes a minute or so, faster in hot water. Then add a cup or so of Dawn while stirring, and release the mixture into the tank.
