Refinished cabinets in our Reflection 220RK

This is a project that will likely take several weeks (or more) to finish, but here’s what we’ve done so far.

I didn’t want to use any cleaning agents that might soak into the wood and interfere with the paint adhering so we skipped the cleaning step altogether and just hand sanded everything.

This is more time consuming but I feel it’s the smarter route. Plus, it’s been pretty hot here in Arizona lately so we’re stuck inside in the a/c anyway, we might as well stay busy.

After sanding we removed all dust with damp rags and applied two coats of primer followed by two coats of latex “Frost Grey”.

Right now, we’re doing the lower cabinets using “Smoke Blue”. Which looks to me like a Royal Blue. Both colors are satin and we’re using Glidden brand from Home Depot.

I’ll continue posting photos as the project progresses.

This is looking good. In our trailer the door fronts are wood but pretty much everything else is contact paper wrapped wood. It looks like you are also painting the wrapped wood. Any concerns about painting over the contact paper?

Here’s a peek at the Smoke Blue for the lower sections. The entertainment section that houses our pop up TV will be this color as well.

It's coming along great. I'd also be interested if you painted over the MDF vinyl wrap on the frames of the cabinets or did you remove it and then apply paint?

Love your color combinations and looks great. Are you using a small roller to get the texture? And as other have asked, what did you do with the vinyl wrapped face fronts to prep them. Remove the vinyl and sand the MDF?
    Thanks

We sanded then primed everything. Our cabinets are all wood with a light stain.
We sanded down to bare wood.
Sawdust everywhere, no idea what y’all mean by vinyl wraps or paper.
    Anyway, here’s a combo shot.

This is what the cabinet face looked like after hand sanding.
We never saw any paper or vinyl wrap, just saw dust, so we just assumed it was wood with a light stain.
At any rate, we used coarse 100 grit on this then like I said, 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint.
They look like brand new custom cabinets in a fancy coach now.

Ed @DaveMatthewsBand - what a great look.....well done ! Trust you already cleaned your AC filter......the saw dust cleanup was probably a project itself !

Thanks, we sanded the doors and drawers outside so most of it was out there.
We work in the morning before it gets hot, so the a/c isn’t running and the door and windows are open for ventilation, so not a big deal really.
