Today I was able to feed 2-6 gauge from the pin box into the battery compartment. I used a fish tape from the pin box to the battery compartment. Once I could see the fish tape I used long nose pliers and grabbed the tape to pull it down. I then taped my two wires warped with protective sheathing and pulled them to the pin box plus 5'. This was the only part of the project I was concerned about. It was much easier that I thought.
In a couple of days I'll have the trailer home and I'll install the battery changer. The first trip will be Thursday, heading to Las Vegas for the NASCAR Race. I'll have a report when I get back how well the battery charger performed.

I assume this is to prepare for installation of the Orion DC-DC charger for alternator charging? I have a 2020 303RLS also and am getting ready to swap in 3 BB batteries and a 9160ALV charger, keeping all the stock wiring in place. Not sure if I also need to do anything with the alternator pathway. Will the stock alternator-charging wiring from the 7-pin connector be damaging to the BB batteries or can it remain as-is and still give some charge to the batteries? Is the purpose of adding the Victron Orion to improve alternator charging or protect the batteries from wayward alternator currents, or both?

The factory DC lead in the 7 pin connector puts out around ~9 amps. I don't think it'll hurt your BB batteries.

Yes I ran the wires for my new Orion DC to DC 30 amp charger. The reason I added the charger was to be able to run our 12' Norcold on A/C while driving to a campsite.
I just returned today from using the new DC to DC 30 amp charger, the batteries were 100% after a 4.5 hour trip with the fridge running the whole time on A/C. Click image for larger version.

Hi all – My PD9160ALV arrived yesterday and my 2x BB batteries will be arriving soon. I found this thread while searching and just wanted to check if anyone has any other recent info. I was originally thinking this would be a simple swap of the WFCO w/ the 9160, using all the existing wiring, etc. So my question is do I really need to upsize the wiring considering the extra 5A capability of the 9160?

Did anyone do the simple swap and then find any issues? I asked BB customer service and got this reply: “The 5 amp difference between the converters is negligible. You will not have any issues installing the 60 amp converter in place of the 55 amp.”

I just wanted to check if there’s any other recent real-world data out there. Thanks!

I switched out the WFCO within a month or 2 of buying our Solitude.

6 or 8 months later, I decided to switch to lithium. I put the new lithium converter up on the wall to get it off the floor. All direct replacements. KEN

Thanks Ken! I was also planning to place the new converter elsewhere and gain some basement storage space. No issues w/ the stock wires, right?

No problems. I think the place I choose, the wires had extra slack. KEN

Actually I was more curious about the wire gage considering we're going from a 55A charger to a 60A charger. There seems to be varying opinions on this. Thanks!

I did the exact swap you are talking about 16 months ago. No issues with the 5 amp difference.
