    Tank monitor upgrades?

Hi all! Running through my list of nice to haves and wondering if replacing the OE tank and LP monitors on our XLS 23BHE would be advised or if the OE is good enough relative to the data it provides. Thanks!

I have the AP Products 024-1000 LP Tank Check Dual Sensor with Monitor Kit. I find the phone app for this to be more accurate than the monitor that comes with it and you don't have to go outside to check the level of the tanks all of the time. The only issue I have is the sensor can be a little finicky with its placement on the bottom of each tank but once on, it is very accurate. Also, when you first park the trailer it will take a little bit for the propane to settle down in the tank before you get an accurate reading. It will work for both 20 and 30lb tanks and you can have it send you alerts when each tank reaches a certain level.
As for the accuracy of the OE monitor, I find the AP Product much better to my liking. One plus about the OE monitor is you do not need batteries.
    Hope this answers your question!

I'll second the Mopeka tank sensors. They are a great product and great customer service. Our old ones were 2.5 years old and stopped working. They sent new ones the very next day. I agree on the finicky problems. Use a little dioelectric grease. it helps. KEN

I've never felt the need to upgrade. If I look down the toilet and it's full or it burps when flushing it's time to dump it. And when the gray tank sensors just read "full" I know I have 5-6 gallons left before the shower or kitchen sink back up. And unless we use the furnace I set the propane tanks on auto and check the regulator every few days to see if I emptied the active tank.

Other the removing the tank to verify the weight, is there another way to tell? Other then purchasing another gadget?

Simple old school way, slowly pour a pan of hot water over top of the tank. Let it run down the side (all you are doing is warming the tank). When done, feel the temperature of the tank from top to bottom. You will find where the liquid/gas level is by the change in temperature. Simple and effective.

Remember a "full tank" is only 80% liquid. This is to allow room for the gas to form/collect and room for the liquid to expand as temp changes.
