    Leaky sewer?

Someone posted a note that said the sewer systems often leak a bit and when you attach the drain hose you might get a cup or so. Is this something that others have run into? Think they suggested adding a volterra gate which seals the regular system with one more pull to let it all flow out? Anyone run into this?

Yes I have. Took me one time of getting my gloves covered as I removed the cap before I ordered the valterra waste gate. It should come from the factory like that if you ask me. Easy cheap upgrade and no more poop water surprises.

I added this on my first trailer. It was one of the first mods I made to my 303.

Yep, it is not so much that they leak, but the gates are at the tanks, and it can be a long run from the tank to he termination.

Yes, it has become a common problem. The issue - in our case and others - is not that anything is leaking but that the installation of the dump plumbing between the tanks and the outlet is imperfect, so waste gets trapped there rather than draining out completely.

On some models - including ours - the three waste tanks all empty through conduit into a manifold and then a single conduit carries the waste the rest of the way from the manifold to the outlet. Waste gets trapped somewhere in there, probably in the manifold, and then when the trailer is moved down the road the waste gets shaken free to continue its journey to the outlet. I've seen as much as 1/2 gallon of waste, sometimes with chunks in it.

This is the valve. Doesn't solve the problem, which is due to bad design and/or sloppy manufacturing, but it prevents it from being an unpleasant surprise when you open the cap on the outlet. You hook up your hose(s) to prepare to dump, open this valve, and then start opening your tanks one at a time. When everything is out, close this valve until next time.
