What OEM items have you replaced?
We’ve had our XLS 22MLE trailer now since Nov ‘19 and have added some things and made a few mods.
For this post I was curious which OEM items I replaced so far that didn’t work for us. They seem to fall into a couple of categories, e.g. personal preference or “an ounce of prevention.....”
I also think it could be feedback to GD to perhaps make changes when there are others who have swapped out similar OEM items.
Here’s our current and future list:
* Replaced shower head as a personal preference with an Oxygenics Body Spa, no comparison to OEM
* Replaced dinette seat cushions as a personal preference b/c OEM cushions were too soft
* Replaced bathroom faucet as a personal preference b/c OEM faucet was too low
* Replaced Westlakes with GY Endurance that for us is an ounce of prevention
* Replaced equalizers with Dexter EZ Flex & hd wet bolt kit, again, for us is an ounce of prevention
* Next up, replace exhaust fan over kitchen with MaxxFan Deluxe as a personal preference b/c OEM fan is noisy and has low CFM capacity.

I've replace the main TV with a smart one, as well as the outside TV with a smart one. The backsplash behind the stove has also been replaced. We've added a bunch of things and modded some stuff, and the list is really too long to post up here. Probably the most useful addition was the Progressive EMS and the slide out that I built and installed in the baggage compartment. We use both of them a lot...everytime we go camping. I've done the usual addition of hooks throughout for hanging clothes and coats on plus moving some switches for various things to make them easier to use. Oh, one other OEM thing that went bye bye and was replaced.....the front steps into the trailer. It came with the Solid Step and I took that out and sold it. I put in a set of the TorkLift Glow Steps and I like them a lot.

Replaced:
piece of trash TCL TV (well, it died, finally)
batteries (lithium) and necessary components
vent in bedroom with AC unit
Westlakes with Goodyear Endurance tires
Not replaced, but added friction strips to inside steps
modified auto level panel so it's on an umbilical (no longer necessary to dive in and out of storage bay to see what's happening when pressing buttons)
made leaf (of sorts) for dining table so it's longer (can seat more people)
new cabinet on top of hutch (in dead space, making it usable storage)
cabinet door on open shelves in bathroom
dividers in overhead cabinets above theater seats so things don't slide from one side of rig to other while traveling
replace frosted window in front door with one that has a shade between clear glass
inverter outlet inside rig
dividers in kitchen drawer to keep knives separate from other utensils
opened dead space at top of bed for more storage
replaced original locks (front door and storage doors)
That's all I can think of. Probably more, if I ask my husband.
EDIT:
Hubby's add-ons:
solar
added surge protector
new hitch pin
suspension re-inforcement
multiple Command hooks (hanging jackets, fly swatter, calendar)
bath caddy in shower
soft starts on both ACs
added LED tail lights (in addition to OEM)
Upcoming mods:
lights over island in kitchen
inverter connection for fridgeLast edited by livinthelife; 06-09-2020 at 02:46 PM.

I'll stick with just OEM items I have replaced to date:
- Factory pin box replaced with a Reese 20K Goosebox
- Factory mattress replaced with Purple Hybrid 3 (anyone desiring the premium RV King-size mattress it's for sale and still in plastic - never used)
- Shower head replaced first with an Oxygenics and now with a Yoo.Mee unit that's even better
- Lavatory faucets with Kohler residential models
- Kitchen faucet replaced with Moen residential model
- Kitchen sink drain replaced with a Kohler residential model
- Entrance lock replaced with an RVLock keypad/remote unit
- Lippert/Thomas Payne theater seating replaced with our residential theater seats, which were in our prior camper and design around my 6'-5" self (OEM Thomas Payne are for sale - never used and still have the factory wrap!)
- Sleeper sofa replacement will be here at the end of the month - going longer to fit said 6'-5" self and done in black leather to match our theater seats (OEM for sale too, no longer in factory wrap, but as new!)
- Lend-a-Hand step rail replaced with the extended version
- Bathroom fan swapped out with a high-performance Heng's unit
- Factory LP hose from the propane manifold to the slide room QD block replaced with custom hose of proper length to remove the excess length of the factory hose that resulted in pinching off the LP supply
- Bedroom TV was originally replaced by the dealer with an LG (factory unit failed at PDI) and now has the Samsung from our last camper (LG makes a nice computer monitor)
- Bedroom shades replaced with the BEST day/night shades!
That's all of the OEM items replaced... The mod list is a whole other animal! LOL.Last edited by geotex1; 06-09-2020 at 08:04 PM.

At a quick glance these items appear to be mentioned most so far, although there are lots of OEM items that have been replaced.
