I won't go into the cheap hinges on the cushioned chairs for storage. They are something you'd find on a child's doll house. AUGH!

A friend of ours didn't strap theirs down on their first trip and the backs of the chairs got scratched and also scratched the island and table. They where bummed. Knowing that we put pillow cases over the chair backs when we travel and do not strap the chairs down. That seems to work fine. We use the heavier quilted cases and everything looks good as new.

I used some quilted material to make covers for our chair backs. We have to strap them down side by side, and the tops were rubbing against each other, causing some damage. In our rig at least 2 of the chairs would have someplace to go when bouncing around, and the other two can hit the windows and/or the table, so it's necessary to strap the chairs down.

We strapped down the chairs the first year - have not done it the last three seasons.

I dismantled the base and made it a smaller x. I then made a wood bracket and attached the table to the wall to add rigidity. Click image for larger version.

We have strapped ours since day 2. On day 1, I saw that there was room for them to shift and possibly scratch the table, the wall, the window trim or, each other. After a couple of trips, we removed the two that fold down, as there are only the two of us. We still strap them down, as it just seems like a good preventative measure. Our trailer will probably still look like new when we eventually sell it, after about 20 years of use.

We secure our chairs during travel. We ditched the OEM straps because neither my wife or me could remember how to strap them down. That activity took the most time of anything when breaking camp. It was RIDICULOUS!

We have simplified it by using bungee cords. We still use the floor mounted D rings and two bungees.
