    2020 31RLK Towing question.

I picked up my rig yesterday from the dealer and first towing experience for this long trailer has me questioning some issues. My tow vehicle is a 2019 Ram 2500 Mega Cab. W/ 6.4 HEMI. Payload is 2800. I have not been to the scales yet which I need to do so I can make sure I am not over payload. I did experience some pretty bad porpoising on the drive home mainly when on rough sections on the freeway. Could this just be an adjustment to the WDH?

    Hi Whiskeyone,

Yes, as the weight is removed from the front axle, it tends to bounce like that. Look in you truck manual to see how much front axle weight restoration is recommended.

My truck is 50%, other trucks may vary. Most hitch mfgrs recommend 50%, so even set up perfectly it may porpoise a bit.

I do suggest a visit to a CAT scale to get the real picture.

I have a long and heavy trailer as well and it took me a bit to get it right.

    What are your weights?

    On edit:
Looked up your trailer specs, very similar to mine. I am using the Equalizer with 1400 pound bars. After all my adjusting my tongue weight is 1380 pounds. Weighing your setup will be key. What wd did the dealer set you up with.

    Bill

What weight are the bars for your hitch?

My trailer hitch weight is 1380 pounds, I am sure your will be up there too.

Not likely your hitch weight will be 985 pounds.
