5th Wheel 311BHS, 2019 Ram Short box, tool box in bad?

I am concerned about going to pick up the trailer maybe this week.
I will be going with the Anderson Ultimate to hitch with.
Is having a 20" bed toolbox going to be an issue with turning the camper to get into a space?

The sag you’ll get from a 311 on a coiled rear 2500 should give you enough clearance without issue.

So your thinking that suspension sag would effect the toolbox to trailer physical height?

I'm not sure that you understand what I'm asking..... The fifth will be hard mounted to the Anderson Ultimate. This is a fixed position, not effected by suspension. You can remove the springs and the trailer to toolbox or to bed side relationship remain unchanged.

I'm trying to get a feel for how close these things are to the bed side, so I know that this box is trying to occupy the same space or not.

I've never understood the issue folks have with a spring that is loaded.... I wouldn't at all expect a fully loaded truck to sit like an empty truck. When I put material in my dump truck... It sags. Been doing that for 15 years. Never bothered me. As I dump, it raises. That never bothered me. It's kind of how springs work.

Every truck will sag. It’s a fundamental function of the of suspension that has a load on it.

Never said I had an issue with coiled trucks. They have the place in all of this. But you’ll squat a lot more than a 3500 riding in the overloads with the same trailer. My opinion is irrelevant here.

I have a similar set up. A 3500 with a goosebox so same fixed position. I already squat 2-3 inches and have an RDS toolbox and don’t come close.

Then again it’s all irrelevant because you’ll only be able to get 70-80 out of a turn

Thank you, so the toolbox can stay as is. I have the Air Lift stainless 5000 lb kit on the truck to help with my E35 excavator.

The truck is pretty used to pulling 8K - 14K lbs. It does a very good job with the Hemi/8 Speed. I pull an Iron Bull 14K gross equipment trailer on the hitch. I've got no trouble with loading that up nicely and jerking it up into the mountains of North Central PA.Click image for larger version.

I do not think you’ll have to remove the tool box. The only outlier is under some decent articulation while turning it could eat that distance up quickly.

That said you should have 7-8” between the bed rails on your set up.

You should be fine. The only issue may be the height of the box... especially when you are on uneven ground. When I had my F350CCSB the tonneau would fold in the front to about 4.5in. Just backing off my drive into my yard would cause enough trailer lean to hit the tonneau latches on the bottom of the cap.

The Anderson can be adjusted front to back, but if you adjust back you’ll need to be cautious about pin box support wings hitting your truck rails or tail gate. I have a Ram..,with coil springs which sag a lot less than most fords I’ve seen...but that’s another story...had to adjust the pin box to get it high enough. Good luck!!
