Overnighting at Walmart or travel centers

Anyone been staying at Walmarts while just passing through? Do they seem more accepting during COVID or less with allowing it? Have you been asking to stay, or just doing it? Any other experience with pilot's, fying J's, rest areas, or travel centers if just needing a place to stay if passing through an area. Thanks.

Most of the Flying J locations have designated rv parking. I have stayed in several while traveling through.

Doesn’t seem to have changed. Stopped at a WM Friday night and they were fine with us staying. We are pansies though, and don’t stay much when it’s hot. Just happened to have a cool night for this time of year.

We have been to Cracker Barrels and to a state line welcome center. Great was to save a few dollars. We called ahead at the Cracker Barrels and they said OK no problem. Cracker Barrel's business model was to provide RV parking. If you zoom down in a satellite view you will see the most every Cracker Barrel has a parking lot or parking spaces behind their building for RV.s

I did remember hearing cracker barrel welcomes RV'ers. I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I used an app at what point to tell you what walmarts allow overnight parking, but I usually went in and asked as well.

DH just told me that he's hearing that some Walmarts may not be offering this any longer as there are so many wanting to do so and not all are adhering to the one -night stay policy.

I just read a news article that stated now only 58% of Walmarts allow overnight stays to RV's. It's because of local zoning ordinances and also due to inconsiderate RVers abusing their privileges (some dump waste water and trash).

We have stayed at Flying J's and Walmarts while traveling for single nights stay with no issues. We just call ahead (or walk in) and ask for permission. We then thank them by shopping at their establishment. I do think it is the locations in more populated areas that are more restrictive.
