Hot air entering kitchen area
I have a furnace intake below a cabinet in the kitchen area. In the summer hot outside air enters the kitchen area through this intake lessening the effect of the air conditioning. Anyone else notice this?

It shouldn't be "outside" air since the furnace does not mix interior and exterior air in it's system. Maybe try covering it in the summer.
Edit: It may be warm air coming from the basement area if your Furnace intake is like mine.Last edited by JCR GD; 06-18-2020 at 08:23 AM.

You don't have a basement door open when this is happening, do you? I noticed this once and realized that I had an outside basement door open with a breeze forcing warm air in that way. When the basement doors are closed, the one return on our Reflection and the two returns in our Solitude did/do not cause any warm air intrusion.

That is a possibility. We did have one door open to the outside storage. Will check that out too, thanks.

The hot air was from where the furnace is installed and where it draws air in from the RV at floor level. The furnace is also located behind the pass through storage so any open door there exacerbated the problem. Fixed it with a block off panel that slides in place. Also wired a furnace disable switch for when the panel is in place so the furnace doesn't starve for air. Now if I can just remember what I did when it gets cold and the furnace doesn't work.

Let's just say that 20 years ago, in my 40s, when I built my house I put float switches in my ac secondary drain pan. Years later, when the primary drain clogged up and ran over into the secondary pan the 24v to the ac shut off via the float switch. I chased that simple problem for a while. So, there is a history...
