I Started My Modifications Today

I always over mod my stuff. We won't even discuss what I've done to my vehicles. I way over modded my last trailer but I learned a lot doing it.

So far in the couple weeks I have owned my 2015 337RLS I have added a Sony Blu-ray player and Samsung Sound Bar in the entertainment center.

Today I added 2 storage tubes under the frame at the rear of the trailer. I will store my collapsible ladder in one and the other is for my flag pole, hiking poles and fishing poles. Access is from both sides and they will lock with padlocks.

I also added a screen door bar. Had this on my last 2 trailers and we love them.





So many more things to do bu this will get me started

Paul - Where did you get those storage tubes and mounting hardware? It looks great, and I'd like to clone it.

The "tubes" are 5" post vinyl covers with caps from Lowes. The mounting is accomplished using Beam Clamps (Lowes), 1/4 by 20 threaded rods cut to length and 1/2" aluminum.





Pretty simple set up. The latches and hinges are pop riveted.

Very nice Mod. You've given me a great idea. I've got to remember to add the screen handle, though. I had one on my last trailer, and yes, they're great.

I have those tubes mounted for my sewer hose, but I like the catch and it looks like a hinge on the end. Can you elaborate a little on how you installed those?

George, I mounted the hinges and the latch with rivets. The trick to using a hinge is not to push the cap on fully when drilling the holes or it won't swing open and closed. The cap is a little over an inch deep but I only pushed the cap on maybe 1/2 " to mount the hinge. I started with the latch and then mounted the hinge. I will take some close up pictures tomorrow. There was a little trial and error getting the fit correct. The post come 8 ft long but I cut 5 1/2 " off so it wouldn't stick out past the skirting. I used one of the pieces for some test fitting.

I did a similar mod on my last trailer but I used the tube for the sewer hose. On that one I didn't use hinges. I just used the latch on both sides of the cap so I did push the cap on fully. It was actually easier but I wasn't interested in locking it. With this one I chose to use the hinges on one side so I would only need 1 padlock per end rather than 2. I didn't want to mess with 8 padlocks! 4 is bad enough

On my last trailer I also only mount the tube using plumbers metal hanging straps which I just fastened to the frame using self tapping screws. It worked but it was a little tacky looking and no way I was going to do that on my gorgeous Reflection
