    Bike rack for 2600RB

We bought a 2020 2600RB last September. This spring we bought2 electric bicycles each weighing 55#. I have been looking for RV rated bicycle racks to carry that much weight. Swagman has a few, but they require a class 3 receiver. The dealer contacted Grand Design and they said it would require welded modifications to the frame to accommodate a class 3 hitch and that action would void the warranty. Since electric bikes are really popular, how have people been able to install a rack system? I really wasn’t expecting this much difficulty.

Your frame warranty only lasts a year. If you are concerned with the warranty, contact Lippert directly. I know some people have had hitches installed at Lippert service centers.

What about a bike rack that attaches to the a frame or putting the bikes in the pickup box.

Get a rack that attaches to the trailer tongue and holds the bikes above the propane tanks. They work very well, but you will have to lift the bikes much higher than a rear mount.

Can they hold that kind of weight?

55 lbs per bike? Wow that would not be fun trying to load up on those racks.

I keep posting about this. One MUST download and read the manual before buying! From page 14 of the Kuat 2.0:

    • Do not use this product on a recreational vehicle or trailer.

Sande005 BTW What bike rack to you use or recommend?

The statement in the manual is only a CYA from the legal department. I did download and read the manual prior to purchase. I also found multiple recommendations for this bike rack from RV owners who have used the KUAT NV 2.0 for several years with no failures. Some of these users had experienced failures with other bike racks.

This is the heaviest and most solidly built bike rack on the market. I’ve used it for 3 years on the back of by Class A and now my Solitude. IN MY OPINION, there is absolutely no reason not to use the KUAT NV 2.0 on an RV of any type with the appropriate hitch. It is up to the consumer to determine if the desired use of a product is appropriate as the consumer will bear the consequences.
