Are all dealers pretty much the same price for replacement parts?

As a newbie I forgot to put my tailgate back up so I have nice scar on the battery compartment door as a badge of shame. I want to replace this door. The price for the door is about $200 and my dealer tells me it's about $100 for shipping. Are all dealers the same price or do some offer discounts, especially on shipping?

It's all about how much mark up they put on their cost. Mine is 50%. Yours is actually being fair on shipping because while light in weight, its dimensions demand the oversized surcharge with both FedEx and UPS.

You could always be unique and put aluminum diamond plate on the door and call it a tailgate guard... Could also fill it yourself with Bondo, sand out, and have it vinyl-wrapped. Either of these are below $300. Another thought is an ugly Bondo job with a nice finish of spray bedliner. Either pro like Line-X, but you'd be surprised how decent you can do with the Rustoleum Pro (has to be the Pro variety) rattle can bedliner!

Nice! Unfortunately my scar is about 3x the width of the at flag lol. I really like the idea of putting something over it rather than spending $300 though.

If you arent in a hurry and do some coordination, GD can put the new door in a camper that is being delivered to that dealer. Should be minimal shipping cost at that point if any at all.

I had a 2005 Cougar with a rear garage (74 3/4" X 47" tall). The door hinges kept breaking and I found the door got "Waterlogged" because of a leak. These people worked with me getting the right measurements and custom made the door. I live in Indiana, so I drove up to Nappanee and picked it up from the manufacturing facility. It cost $284 (in 2016) which I thought was pretty good for such a large door. Worked out great.
