Towing 315RLTS (2018)
Hi All,
We purchased our new to us 2018 315 RLTS to live in full time in the next few months. We fell in the love with the RV first, and now have the opportunity to select our TV carefully. I've done a lot of research and I know that we can make it work with the gas or diesel, but safety is our top priority. With that being said, the diesel would obviously be an investment. We will be towing from East to West coast, so I know the diesel exhaust breaks are a bonus. We're also likely putting in the washer and dryer.
Curious to hear about towing experiences with your gas or diesel?
We're likely going with a Ford F250 SRW 4x4 crew cab 6.2L or 6.7L turbodiesel.

Forget the 250 if going with a diesel. Go right to a 350. The diesel will eat up a lot of your payload. That said, I think you will be disappointed with a gas engine when you are towing in the mountains out west. I personally would never go back to gas after towing with a diesel.

Agree on the F350. For the money your gonna spend, it's only a few Benjamins more. Gives you some room to step up to a bigger trailer later if you wanna. I don't know anything about the 6.2. Full time, running coast to coast, yea, go diesel. You wont hear the gasser screaming up the hills, or standing on the brakes goin' down. It's nice to tow without drama.

We had a F250 gas with 373 gears...did a "test " tow with our dealer's stock trailer. A 2019 315RLTS. It wasnt real comfortable. Before ours arrived we bought a 2019 F350 6.7 diesel with 3:55 gear ratio Crew Cab 4x4 medium box SRW . Pulls our 2020 315 like a champ. Using the Blue ox hitch. Ox Pro 2000 with 2000lbs bars on the 10th link.
Totally happy with this whole rig

We have a 2018 Reflection 315RLTS pulled by a 2014 F250 4x4 6.7L Diesel Crew Cab Short Bed and have towed almost 5,000 miles in the 315RLTS. We travel the western states, up and down the hills.
Loved the diesel for the power and ease of filling up at the truck stops. While I'm totally happy with the F250, and have had no problems with power, a F350 would be nice to provide that extra humph.

Thanks Don! This is good to hear.. we will keep an open mind about our F250 diesel endeavors then but if a 350 is possible for us we'll go bigger.

There is very little price difference between a 250 and 350, but a whole lot of payload.
