    Time for a new truck!!!

I have been a die hard Ford fan my entire life. My first diesel is in my sig and is of course a Ford. Well it's been the shop six time since being bought brand new eight months ago. EGT issues and the last two times, the PCM has failed to communicate with the rest of the truck, spitting out tons of codes and then leaving me stranded. I am in the process of getting an attorney and going through the lemon law.

My wife refuses to allow me to by a Duramax. I don't want to know buy one either. I would love to get another Ford, but this has really left a bad after taste in my mouth.

So, I am really interested in a Ram 3500 Cummins SRW. Can anyone give me any real world experience? I heard that Rams have high bed sides and sometimes interfere with proper towing? Is this true? can I still tow my Reflections without any concerns?

    Thanks in advance,

    Joe

    Joe,

Sorry to hear about your troubles with your Ford. I am a Chevy guy and love the Duramax. I also realize that every auto maker can have issues but it all boils down to customer service and making things right. That is why I love Grand Design. Best Customer Service ever! I can't tell you anything about the Ram but I am sure you will get allot of feedback from the experts on this forum. Good luck in search for a new vehicle and getting your money back on the lemon.

Sounds like just a bad luck. You spend your money, you take your chances. I have a Ford F250, 2013 6.7 diesel. Great truck. Roll the dice and buy another one. Chances are in your favor that it will be a good one. There are thousands of these trucks on the road, only a few have issues. This goes for all brands. Buy what you like and forget about it. Just my 2cents. Happy camping!

I have a 2013 Ford F-250 6.7. I only had one issue with a code and that was my temp gauge on the exhaust port. Brought to ford, fixed it and be running ever since. I had a Ford F-150 before this truck with the ecoboost and it had one of the inter cooler issues. I just wanted Ford to buy the truck back and I would get another Ford. I grew up in a Chevy family, but GM vehicles haven't brought a truck to the table to justify leaving a great truck that I have now.

On that same note though, I took will be looking a dodge the next time I decided to upgrade (even though I'll probably stick to ford) course, Nissan has a cummins motor coming out in there new trucks and Toyota will be realesing a diesel motor soon as well. Might be something to look into

I'm speaking from word of mouth knowledge, but if you go with the Dodge, make sure you won't have an issue with the height of the bed aligning with your Reflection. Personally I'd elevate your concerns with the Ford up to the district manager and get it fixed correctly. My 2013 is running strong.

I shopped the big 3 makers when I was ready to trade my 3 year old trouble free 2011 F150 EcoBoost. I don't have a brand loyalty as they all have their own set of issues from time to time. The Ford dealer offered me the best deal on a similarly equipped truck to the GM and Ram. I have 15,000 miles and 8 months on my 2015 F350 without a single issue (knock on wood). I am looking forward to putting the Solitude on the FW hitch for the first time this spring and do not anticipate any issues whatsoever.

Good luck in your selection process.

Have always been a Ford guy but have 2 brother-in-laws retired from GM. Have always liked chevy's and have even had a few. They were good to me so I didn't have a problem getting another one. The duramax allison combo have been tried and proven for a long time. When we were offered a 3500 GMC denali for the same price that chevy and ford were were offering for the mid range 250's we jumped on the denali. We love it and it will last us a long time.
