    2020 Suburban 5.3 - Xplor 247BH

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this post.
I am looking for purchase a 2021 Xplor 247BH and tow it with my 2020 Suburban 5.3 2WD.
Dry Weight of the 247BH is roughly 5300 lbs. Max towing for the Suburban is 6300 lbs.
If I get a good WDH, will the Suburban handle the TT alright? We will be good on payload per my calculations based on hitch weight, cargo + passengers.
The current tires on the Suburban are "P" rated. Do I need to bump up to "LT" tires?
Sorry for all the questions. Just dont want to be the guy who has to buy a new TV after he gets a new TT! Thanks for any tips, suggestions, or comments.

    Welcome to the forum!
We have a trailer similar in dry weights to the 247BH but shorter.
Let’s say when you get it from the factory the delivered dry weight is about 5500. Loaded for camping 6200 or so if you pack light no water. That will be very close to your max tow. For tongue weight take a general rule of 13% of 6200 to get 800. What does the payload sticker say on the driver’s door jam? Subtract 800 from it and what’s left will be for you, other passengers, gear, etc. The 247bh is also 30’ which makes a difference with SUVs since they generally have a shorter wheel base. You will also need to look at your axle ratings, especially the rear. That could be very close too.

PS Not sure which Suburban you have but I just looked up a 2020 Suburban LT 5.3 2wd and it’s showing 8300 max tow? Was your 6300 a typo?

The payload sticker says 1711 lbs.
Gross rear axle weight rating is 4200 lbs.
Does a WDH help with the weight on the truck?

Yes, for a trailer this long and weight you will need a good WDH to control sway and transfer weight back to the front steer axle.
Can you double check your max tow number? I’m seeing 8300.

It is definitely 6300 lbs. It has the 5.3 V8 (Doesn't have the Max Trailering Package - which boosts it to 8300 lbs).

Okay, was hoping you made a typo. That’s going to be very close, plus without Max trailering I’m assuming your Suburban didn’t come with the transmission cooler, heavier hitch, 7-pin trailer connector, etc.? Just curious what your GVWR is then?

It does indeed have the 7-pin trailer connector. The GVWR is 7300 lbs. I am planning on adding an external tranny cooler. Not sure about the hitch - looks like a "normal" one to me.

If you look under your receiver on the Suburban, on one side or the other there should be a sticker with a rating for max tongue weight. Also, any idea what rear end gear ratio you have?

And one other number, your GCWR which will probably be in your manual. That’s the total weight of truck and trailer combined.
