    Travel trailer backing

Is it best to disconnect the weight distribution bars when backing ?
We have the blue ox hitch w/ weight distribution bars. The manufacture says you can back without disconnecting.
Just seems to me things can get pretty bound-up when backing, especially in some of those "tight" spots.

I guess I probably should but have not disconnected, ever. I see a lot of people that do.

When I had a TT I disconnected for any backing tight turns. A lot less binding and stress on the hitch and trailer frame.

Some setups require it, Blue Ox does not. I back mine all the time with it connected, have actually been turned to the point that I got out of the truck to make sure that the trailer wasn't about to take out a tail light on the truck. Even on uneven ground (my back yard where I park it) there isn't any groaning or clunking going on. Cant speak for other hitches, but my experience with Blue Ox is leave it connected.
    Take care,

I had reese dual cam and was told to to unhook it before backing, especially tight spots.
