    Repair Tiny Hole In Floor

    Hey,

We decided to transport a bike in the TT and when we got to our destination, the kickstand put a tiny hole in the floor. Is the floor made of vinyl? What is the best way to fix it? I just want to get it so there is no bump, and try to superglue it or something so there is no longer a rip.

Also, the kickstand left a 3 inch black scuff, what do we do to clean that off?

Yes, vinyl floor. Try GooGone for the black rub mark. The hole can be properly repaired in a few ways. The best depends on if it's really a puncture or more of a tear. Sounds like the latter if there's a raised bit. A picture would really help because it could be as simple as using some heat, adhesive below and seam sealer on top, or you might need to cut a patch from under a cabinet. Might get an acceptable to you repair with melt repair sticks.

I do not want to highjack this thread but I am also very interested in the floor repair methods that might work. I have a tear in the floor about 3" long between the table and the island on my 2018 GD Refection 303RLS due to a table base screw point extending though the slide floor and tearing the flooring as the slide is moved in and out.

Ok, so it's ugly. If you can live with ugly you can just stabilize the defect. You will need a hairdryer or heat gun - if using a heat gun keep it below 60% power - and a roller. Heat the vinyl in the defect area, keeping the heat about 3 inches above the floor. When warm, use the roller to flatten out all edges. Once satisfied, let the area cool and inspect the area. If you have no missing vinyl, you can then move onto painting the area with vinyl floor seam sealer. Floor is Congoleum so get their brand for no questions of compatibility. If vinyl is missing, you're going to need an acrylic filler. You can buy DIY kits for this at most any flooring supply and online. You will never get a superior match when color blending with a DIY kit so mix what you can live with. Follow instructions and the repair will wear well. Alternatively, if you have a specialist in your area, they can repair such damage to almost imperceiveable. A repair that size and color complexity is $250-300. Now the more common repair is to patch in a new piece of flooring. The flooring can be obtained by your dealer parts department if you have nowhere inconspicuous to obtain material from and you can ask them to have GD ship direct to you. Instead of me typing instructions, here are some video that are how-tos:

Our slide put a hole in the same floor. Went to a flooring store, they gave us a small cup of Mannington V81, a flooring glue for vinyl floors. Floor is repaired and looks good.

Also having a set of assorted pick tools can help to pull any curled edges back in place before working with the heat gun.

If you not up for it give some of your better flooring stores a call and see if they have a mobile service. Some are experts at repairing vinyl or installing patches. If a patch is needed it can be robed form a closet bottom or pass through. Or give GD customer service a call and see if they have any scraps they might send you.

I ended up buying vinyl glue from home depot, it was white and dried white. I'm not going to get too crazy over it now that I know I can have the floor fixed with inserting another "plank" in that spot. I'll wait until a later date to have it fixed correctly. The area was pretty flat already so I just filled the tear with the glue. I'm going to take a marker that matches the surrounding color and try to get it to the point it won't be so noticeable.

update: I found some places in my area that deal these floors and contacting them for prices.

    hey,

So I went on grand design parts lookup and they name the part as one of these:

    620193 LINOLEUM 32"PRECUT ROLL DESIGNER CAREFREE CC-270
620272 LINOLEUM 8' JUMBO ROLL DESIGNER CAREFREE KOKUTAN CITY SHADOW CC283 (500 SYD/ROLL)
620204 LINOLEUM 8' JUMBO ROLL DESIGNER CAREFREE METEOR HILLSBOR

but googling, none of them look like the floor in my camper. The closest I could find, but the pattern doesn't really match to me is this:

    AirStep: AirStep Evolution
    Collection: Forest Valley
    Color: Lantern Smoke
    SKU: 72105

How do I find the exact manufacturer of this? I have called grand design asking them if they have any to sell me and I'm waiting for a response.
