Norcold "opL1" Refrigerator Error Code Fix
We just experienced a Norcold Refrigerator problem during thunderstorm yesterday. As usual, Owner's Manual was useless and said to get professional service.
A quick visit to YouTube, however, provided a very simple DIY fix requiring only a magnet. Here's the link:

Well known - and many of us carry a cow magnet or similar in our tool kits. I still have mine though we now have a residential refrigerator.

Had to do the magnet trick during a recent trip out west (Yellowstone). During a violent thunderstorm, rain coming in sideways we discovered the refrigerator was not running on Ac or LP. Norcold had a code L1 oP. did some digging on the net and discovered the reason and possible fix. had a small magnet and tried it. No good. Drove to Home Depot and bought some stronger magnets. Tried it and got the ball to move within the unit at the back of the refrig. The Refrig was back on line. Had never heard of the problem until it happened to me.

I have had to do it twice this summer. Does anyone make a weather shield for these outside covers?

I've never had to reset mine......Yet, but I carry a strong magnet in the lower vent area for just that occasion. It would be a pretty simple mod to get a piece of clear plastic (like a carpet runner) and cut a piece big enough to attach over the top of the control box and let it hang down loosely over it. That way no matter how hard it rained, or even if it was blowing in sideways, it couldn't get to the control box.

Mine tripped after going through a truck wash. I didn't know the magnet trick at the time, so I put in a warranty claim; the replacement part came with a plastic "cup" designed to be mounted over (and completely covering) the board using the same attachment point as the board. We've been through numerous washes since then with no problems.

Can you send a pic of the cup? Does it just cover the little box with the red light?

Thank you.
That is not the little box with the red light you have to do the magnet reset is it? That is a different board?
I guess that is the one sensitive to moisture.
Both time mine errored out it have moisture in the area behind the cover from wind blown rain.
