    Watchman campground at Zion park??

Hi everyone. Me and the wife thinking about Zion next fall and are wondering about Watchman Campground. Anyone with any comments on the facility?? Seems beautiful, right next to the park entrance, and seems to have some spots for 5thers. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other insight? Thanks in advance

We love it. Electric only but some nice sites on the river. It can definitely handle your Solitude. We don't go anymore though and usually stay at the Zion Canyon Campground (Quality Inn) right in Springdale with full hookups. We like the proximity to the little town although the camp sites are literally across the river from each other. We are there in March for a few days.

I would definitely recommend Watchman to you though.

We're going through Zion en route to South Dakota in July with a friend's motorhome. Unfortunately, that's all we'll be able to do because of time, go through. Definitely following this, however, so when we finally get our own coach, we'll know where to stay when we return.

Thanks Paul and Deb. We are toggling between both. The one in Springdale seems to have nicer amenities and the convenience of the town. From what I can tell in my utube and google searches is the campsite views in watchman are spectacular and there are walking and bicycle paths within the camp ground. Hopefully we will get a few more reply’s with more opinions/experiences at Zion

Offtohavasu--where and when will you will in SD......we are going to be in the Custer State Park from 7/9--7/18.......you may be able to collect on that adult beverage I owe you ! This is going to be a very busy year for the Black Hills area especially with the 75th anniversary of the Sturgis rally in August......maybe that is your trip reason and if so, be good !

LOL. Too funny. We're actually just going to miss each other. We're going to be in Hill City July 2 -6. My wife's family are all from there, a lot of them still living there. Every 5 years they have a family reunion. We're going to be staying at the Black Hill Trailside RV Park.

We will just miss you - we are going to be staying right outside Custer State Park on 7/12-14. Riding the motorcycles, though, not pulling the rig this trip.

You can't go wrong with either. I do actually love the views from either place. Go on Google Earth and you will see how close they are. The sites at each campground in one section are a stones throw away across the river. Here we are last year at the Zion River Campground. They are packed in but they still have spectacular views and convenience.

I can't find my pictures from the Watchman but it is exceptional, well, with the exception of electric only but really, for the number of days you might be staying who needs water and sewer?

Oh, gratuitous picture of me at the top of Angels Landing

I can totally recommend Zion River Campground also. It seems that everything is within walking distance.
