Another thought: does anyone know if GD could build the trailer as a 50 amp as a special order? I'm guessing 'no' but thought I'd ask.

They generally steer clear of special orders. A competent electrician with a little knowledge of RVs could change one to 50A without a lot of difficulty.

It's GD's solution to managing the power with only 30 amps on TT's that should be 50!
Coleman Airxcel Mach 15 Power Saver model 48259-969. and I was pretty surprised at the 2 am fridge draw myself. Just looked again, still 2 amp draw on the system, that is the only thing on right now, I have it on electric only since it is on shore power next to the house.

Thanks. Looks like GD is doing what they can to make that 30 amps work!

Other manufacturers are doing the same. We were considering a Jayco Grey Hawk motor home before we settled on the GD 31G. They use the same sort of power management system on those motor homes. They also run 2 AC's on their 30 amp service. Not saying ti's the best thing but is apparently a common practice.

My last trailer was a 30A rig. I had to be careful with power usage with just one AC. I added a second 30A service and split the loads plus an additional 20A circuit just to run space heaters.
That said, never another 30A rig, I don't care how much I like the floor plan. Power issues on a hot day is not what you really want to deal with.
