New England to Idaho - quick trip!

Hi all - We're on a semi-tight time budget for this trip so we're going to be taking the most direct path out west and back. Looking like primarily I-90 from the northeast to I-80 most of the rest of the way. We're not going to have much time for side excursions (maybe can squeeze a half day in here and there). We're looking for easy to get to and safe over night accommodations not far from the main route. We're Harvest Host and Good Sam members. Any suggestions for places to stay overnight for one night along the way and/or areas to avoid? We're also using Trip Wizard. Thanks!

Boondockers Welcome will give you more opportunities for one night stays as well. Similar to Harvest Host without the business aspect.

I would recommend RV Trip Wizard.
They offer many camping options along your travel route.

Thanks both! We're using RV Trip Wizard. Just wanted to reach out to folks here to see if there were any specific recommendations that we may have missed. Thanks!

There are two rest plazas on the Ohio Turnpike, that have electric hook ups for $20/night. We will be staying at one of them on our way out to Yellowstone in August.

Another option would be Cabelas and Cracker Barrel. You can go to their website and look at their locations.
We have been to both Cabelas and Cracker Barrel and we have had good stays. We have ran our generator as well,
we just park away from others, in respect of any noise. No one parks under the lights, we do only because of the black out shades.

    Orbsah,
How many miles/day do you figure ? We're looking NH to Boise. Retiring next year but could do a quick trip this year to visit our son. Was going to hold off on purchase of a 310 or close until next year when we could spend additional time in transit.
    Thanks,
    ajg

Hi ajg - we’re going to try capping the miles to 350/day. We’ll see how it goes. We too are visiting our son and planning to retire next year. We didn’t want to push this trip off another year though because with all the Covid stuff, we migh not be able to fly for the holidays - this might be our only chance for a while. We’ll go again and take our time post-retirement.

    Hi Orbsah,
Why we were thinking about purchasing the RV this year rather then next year but neither of us will have enough vacation time queued up as we're visiting our daughter this week and next figuring we wouldn't be buying an RV this year. That said, there are some left-over 2020s at a good price that have popped up on our radar. If I were to order a 2021, I'd probably add one or two items (disk brakes for example and maybe factory solar) over the 2020 but that has most everything I'd order. Let us know how the trip goes.
    Cheers,
    Ajg
