GD Steps Up With Major Tire Upgrade

I've been seeing whispers over on the GD FB page that GD trailers are shipping with Goodyear tires.

I emailed a Regional Sales Manager and asked about that. His reply...

"Goodyear Endurance E rates are going on Momentum trailers and reflection 5w’s.

Solitudes and Momentum 5w’s will be getting the Cooper American Made H Rates 16 ply tires"

HUGE news. GD leads the way again!

He didn't mention what the order date was for the switch over to these better tires.

I know my 398M (which should be out of paint now) has Cooper 17.5 H rated tires.... I had to pay extra for them as part of the disc brake upgrade..... So I am guessing that what you posted is likely 16" Coopers?

We have 7K axles. In all honesty, my case may be an anomaly. There was lots of confusion between myself, dealer and GD since these tires didn't match the specs on the sticker on the side of the unit so I'm not sure how it happened - may have been a goof at the factory (mine was built right after the factory resumed production). No complaints from me but I was a little curious if this happened to anyone else.

The GYs are about a $400 upcharge on the Reflections, which saves me the worry and trouble of replacing the usually cheap tires that come on most new trailers.

Sounds like a mistake The 7 K axles with disc brakes don't get the tire upgrade unless you speicify it. The 8 K axles always come with H tires. It appears that on the Solitude, you should pay extra for it. The Momentum is not on the web yet, but the only upgrade available is disc brakes with 8 K axles and H tires.
