Dometic 2662RBX supplemental fan install - 2017 Imagine 2600RB
Our Dometic 2662RBX has not had an issue maintaining cold temperatures. However, the unit is 3 years old. I would like to get another 3-5 years before we change RV's and figured adding a cooling fan would help.
The fan kit was purchased from RV Cooling Unit Warehouse for $48.95 plus shipping.
Cheap insurance. As per guidance from RV Cooling Unit Warehouse, I mounted the fan to supply air vs. exhaust air. The 2600RB has a roof exhaust vent vs. upper side panel vent.
1. Find a power source and Ground. Note the 12V Terminal Block, it was marked 12V, +, and -
2. Mount fan with included L brackets.
3. Mount Thermostat with CA glue and cable ties.
4. Mount Switch and Fuse. Cut and crimp wires. Seal screws in the wood with silicone.
I tested the power connection by jumping the 130 degree F thermostat. It works. The whole process took 30 minutes.Jeff and Mary

Thanks for this post. I have been thinking of adding a fan and this seems quick, easy and no roof work. So after reading your post I ordered the same unit.

It is as quiet as computer fan. It can be heard outside. Yesterday, frig set at 4, -11 degrees in the freezer. Works for me!

FYI, on mine we had marginal cooling in hot summer temps. I found the fans installed by GD were not running. The issue IMO, is the location of the temp switch, its too far out on the fins. I bypassed it, got the fans running and this made a significant improvement. IIRC we had a 20° decrease in freezer temp. Later I found the same switch with a lower temp rating and installed that. So, IMO, the installed fans are adequate if they are running when they should be. Good luck

UPDATE:
Pulled into an RV park in Texarkana, Texas. Temp was in the mid-90's, Frig set to the 4th dot. Plugged in the power, Frig and Fan engaged. Freezer temp -3F Frig Temp 34F (after removing two adult beverages).
The mod works well for us.Jeff and Mary
