How Far Did You Travel To Pick Up Your Trailer?

Originally it was Ottawa to Orrilia, close to 300 miles. Great price but not so reputable dealer. No after sales service. Ended up discovering an really awesome family own dealer in Alexandria. 60miles and they pretty much match the other big dealer

1397 mi. Albuquerque NM to Knoxville TN. Purchased from Lazy Days, which has dealers closer. Base price of the RV was the same at any location, but freight to the dealer was a function of distance from Grand Design. Freight going closer (Colorado or Arizona) was over $3k. Freight to TN was <$1,000. Cost me less than $2k to drive there, have a weeks vacation in TN, and return. Plus saved over $10k on price over the local dealer. No brainer. If you are willing to travel and don't want a long term relationship with a local dealer, find a dealer near the factory.

we got ours local to us but have previously travelled about 150 miles to buy/pickup with pur trailer before this one. we too made a bit of a holiday out of it to pickup an do a proper shakedown.. Identified a couple issues on the first night. Got em fixed fairly easily again on a trip through town but then decided we didnt love that trailer and traded it in about 8 miles from our house.

2000 miles each way. Bought a 2016 last year from original owner. They ordered from GD, brought home and never used it.

We drove from Tacoma, WA to Bend OR, which is about 150 miles away or give or take but the one thing that you have to think about is if you don't mind driving back there for warranty work I would say go for it. I saved a few thousands by going there but I have told myself that I want do it again.

We traveled about 40 miles to purchase the 5th wheel. Austin Texas to Seguin. However while looking we traveled a much greater distance. At first we were interested in a Jayco and found one in Albuquerque that we liked so we drove out there. When we got back the local Jayco dealership said that they would only do warranty work and then we would be at the end of the line. We talked about both dealerships trading units or having Jayco do a build. Dealership for some reason wasn't interested. We then drove to Rockport and up to Waco to look at other 5th wheels.

After doing some additional research I found Grand Design RV on the internet and ExploreUSA in Seguin. Searched their inventory and found a couple that I liked. Drove down and talked to the dealership folks, then brought the family down that next weekend. Finished the purchase the next weekend.
